To be honest, I was bored to the point of distraction for most of the first episode. I went into the series with high expectations (Sunrise + Mecha = Win) so I was disappointed by the clumsy attempt at illiciting an emotional response from the audience. It just didn't work for me.
And yes, I know the first episode of any mecha series is probably going to feature the main character somehow being forced/coerced/tricked into piloting the giant suit that he has no interest in piloting. That's par for the course. I've just never been able to buy into shallow tricks like these. You can tell me all you want that I'm supposed to care about a character who has ~10 minutes screen time, but it's just not going to happen. What I did like was the methodical actions of the silver-haired antagonist. The way he handled the protagonist was marvelous.

just when I thought, there will be another asami seto chara for this season
first episode didn't disappoint in term of quality, and it doesn't have bland feeling of Sacred 7 as well

To be honest, I really don't think Shoko survived that.
Everything melted from that laser blast. The odds of surviving that doesn't look good. I don't think people want to see melted, dripping, flesh juice that was once Shoko on the hot pavement sizzling. (A little graphic description, but you get the idea) She's no CC and can't regenerate herself. I understand why people wanted her to live, but I think she served her purpose and her death will toughen Haruto up so he can take action instead of sitting back and not trying to win. Shoko did give him a lecture about that earlier. Plus, the death flag was that near confession at the shrine. Sunrise doesn't care about being conventional and that's the way I like it. Now we have a vampire-mecha lead who looks like Setsuna while L-Elf looks like a white haired Lelouch. On a side note, Saki is gonna be amazing! She's even being voiced by Haruka Tomatsu. (Asuna/Nagi/Anaru) Yeah, I'll take that.

(Just remember, I called it!) Oh, but he really wanted to pilot this mecha. I had to laugh when he was in the cockpit, randomly pushing buttons, pretty much going "move dammit, you're a mecha, I'm supposed to have my roaring rampage of revenge now!" |

Not that we see this at all. We just see a bare, scorched area after the fact. It's not like they had the time to conduct a search. Quote:

Not that I'm saying Shouko has some special abilities we don't know about (although for all we know, she does, or she'll get some from some lab guys at some point), but my point is that people couldn't have known C2 was really coming back then either. And as playmaker2k pointed out, Nunnally. Quote:

shinji,
See the proof from The Ero King's images. I went back to that scene and she got blindsided by that luminescence. There was no way of escaping that. Like Ero King wrote earlier, she was vaporized before the car. I understand where you're coming from. It's okay, it'll take some time to heal. Spoiler for code geass:

If she's dead, she's dead. But I think there are a good number of indicators that suggest she's not, both in-series and out-of-series. (refer back to my list of indicators on the previous page of the thread) And we've only seen many, many times when supposedly a character can't survive something but does. Plus, considering we've got a guy who got stabbed all the way through the heart and shot twice in the chest at close range, and survived because he was made into what appears to be a vampire, dying may not keep Shouko dead anyway. And I don't think you meant it to be, but that last part there about healing and denial came off a bit insulting. It's about reason for doubt, as I listed earlier.

Don't take offense on what I said about that.
It wasn't meant that way, this is just a nice debate for Shouko's welfare. Anything's possible with Sunrise. They've done it before, but it would be nice if they actually pulled the plug for a change and not look back. On a different note, I want to see more Saki.
