Both stories follow the same formula, so it's understandable. It's the same with Mushishi, or xxxHolic. Though from the looks of things, i believe it's only the first arc that's finished now which has the same likeness.

Now, in a less sarcastic tone the three show share the concept, but they are miles apart in themes, mood and style.

Yep, i never said they were the same. Just that they use the same formula, as i did point out already.

I wasn't disagreeing, just extending your argument

I'm a year late for the discussion, but I liked episode two a lot, the psychological character development of Sengojahara was just perfect. I didn't like the art in the second half of the episode too much, though; the sort of blending of live action reminded me too much of the one episode of that 'melancholy teacher' show that I watched, where I found that technique (involving a laughing real-life face) extremely obnoxious. I hope Shinbo doesn't that use that again in this show.

OK watched 1 and 2. I like the animation, its definitely Shaft, a few parts did remind me of SZS. Not as much in epi 2 but I thought while watching epi 1 some of the overzealous animation took away from the dialogue epsc when the two are walking in the building too Oshino. I found myself watching the art more then listening to them. I thought epi 2 had a better blend of quality animation and dialogue.

Sakurai has hints of Kusuriuri-san in his delivery of Oshino, epsc the question scene.

Oh yeah, what is a "Tsundra" - Google didn't turn up anything really. Is it just a wordplay used only in this series or something? Maybe combining tsundere with hydra?? lol.

It was supposed to be "Tundra." As in a cold, barren wasteland. "Tsundora" is the Japanese way of saying tundra, so there's an obvious pun there. I'm not sure why gg left in the 'tsu'.

In the first episode, Koyomi was supposed to get involved. The conversation between him and Meme before they got into that room went something like this:

Spoiler for skipped part of Hitagi Crab:

There's a chance they'll add them back in BD/DVD version, though. (Unlikely, I think.)

Got ya. I know what a tundra is, lol. That makes sense too. More so than mine, haha. Although you she could be interpreted as having multiple head, in other words multiple sides to her personality. Its a stretch, right?

Hachikuji episode! Finally! Hachikuji!

Spoiler:

In summary, if you enjoy the story, this episode probably won't be your thing… yet.
If you enjoy the conversation, this episode is full of it.

p.s. Tsukihi & Karen bathing scene.

Yay! That was actually good.

The convo is an amusing 17 minutes or something, since they skipped the OP this week, and I think it was a lot funnier in the book, but the Hachikuji stuff is much better in the anime. It felt really awkward when I read it, but it's funny when animated, and Katou Emiri is great. This arc should end up very nice.

Not too pleased with the weird character design changes between scenes, though.

In any case, I really seriously hope the translators have bothered to read ahead so they know what this arc is about, or there'll be some loud DOH's when it ends. And confused viewers.

50 seconds is nothing. White Album had 3 full minutes of a single still image.
