Now I know Yumin isn't cheating but from what I understand Forsaken would have no problem with it even if she was.

There's plenty of exemples of "utilizing ambiguous rules" in soccer but there's nothing ambiguous about what Henry did,he flat out broke a rule.

I was strictly replying to his last post so I didn't see the Thierry Henry bit.

But if he did purposely break rule, then I got no sympathy for him.

BTW, who is Thierry Henry and what did he do? I assuming he's a soccer player which is the one team sports that I don't follow except watch World Cups here and there.

Anyway, back to Yumin. I do have to say though that even if Yumin's case was invalid I still would be ok with her bring up the argument.

I mean, Harada sensei specifically taught Chihaya the to do exactly that and the thought here is that if the opponent is not willing to claim and stand up for his/her card than it their problem and mistake. Is it an underhanded move? Sure. But does it break the rule? No.

Though I seriously doubt Yumin would go into an argument unless she is sure she was right.

No he didn't, because he was only caught by millions of spectators and every player on the field, but not by the referee! (Or maybe the referee pretended not to see it... Same thing!)

None of those sports are self-arbitrated, so no, they're not better examples.

Henry is a soccer player who "scored" a goal while playing a World Cup qualifier for France against Ireland on a blatant handball. It ended up costing Ireland a (rare) World Cup berth and Henry later admitted it was intentional on his part.

Incidentally, Henry not being caught by the referee doesn't mean he didn't break the rule - it only means he didn't get caught breaking the rule. It's a poor comparison to Yumin for many reasons, but foremost among them is the fact that she didn't break a rule in the first place.

Anyone else find it strange that the titles are separated by gender? In normal tournaments both genders are paired up. Karuta is not physical enough to warrant gender separation like that. It's kinda lame that the queen and master can't go head to head to see who's better.

Women would have no chance to win in a big tournament.

But anyway, Shinobu BANZAI !!!

Eh I fail to see how. A guy would have longer reach, but that's about it. A girl could just sit closer to the cards to make up for the loss in reach. The rest is all about speed, focus, memorization, which is not gender-specific. Explain yourself or I'm just going to have to assume you're a bigot of some sort >.>

The issue I have with Yumin playing style is, that if everybody played as fereciously as she does, aka defended his cards and wins just like Yumin, she would lose her advantage and things would go back to square one.

Maybe the ideas is to offer two winning titles. So instead of one, there is two. I personally like it.

WTF SHINOBU?!!

Just how much does she love Snowmaru? She ate all these ice-creams and gained a dozen kilos in the process just so that she could get a pouch and a handkerchief. I know she doesn't care about her looks but she could have thought about how it would affect her performance in Karuta. I loved that smug look on her face when she showed her new goods off, you could tell she felt proud

Fat or not, I still love her. In fact, I love her even more now. I enjoyed finding out how she truly feels about Karuta. It's far more than a game for her. Oh, and her loli self was absolutely adorable <33

The meijin looks fearsome, and I get the feeling he's either quite sadistic or very playful. I doubt it's a coincidence his scores matched up perfectly with Shinobu's.

Yeah. I was rather glad for her.

My other thought on the ep: You know, for all that she's demanding, Taichi's mother isn't as controlling as she could be. She doesn't scrimp on money, which is the most obvious way to control him. He has that big TV, and those plane tickets for that tournament that one time...

Suo Hisashi, the Meijin, looks like he is just toying with his opponent. I really can't wait until the day Arata faces this sadist, if they ever decide to put on another season of Chihiyafaru.

I really love Chihiya in this series. She is very simple and straightforward with her desires and ambitions. She does not really hide anything about her thoughts, and she bears no ill will towards anyone. People like that in real life are really refreshing.

Shinobu was interesting as ever again. I'm sure she'll lose the weight next time she and Chihiya faces each other, although I would love the chance to see her wipe the floor against Taichi.

One episode to go, and this ride will be over, sadly.

Nice to see a bit of Shinobu' past. Liked how she didn't realize she felt heavy because she gained weight. Taichi's mom is really scary.

I loved the part about Shinobu's past. It really gave a lot of depth to her character,

However I am a little disappointed that it looks like these last 2 episodes are focusing on the Queen & Master finals instead of our main group of characters.

Oh I am glad we are getting these episodes but if we aren't going to get more of the series I guess I would have wanted an ending that focuses on Chihaya, Taichi, Kana, Komano, & Nishida instead.

Oh well hopefully the Master match won't take up too much time next episode.

On another note Chihayafuru 2nd season; someone make it happen!

Loool Shinobu , that was surprising but well , nice development.

The match are really interesting. Porky said that Suo's style is almost the same as Chihaya ? Wow if she reach his level , she'll become even more badass !

That kind of attitude can be good in some cases. But here, such a personality has been quite detrimental to her personal growth —basically leaving her devoid of complex emotions — in life as well as Karuta. Which has been hinted at quite a few times in the series, the most recent being when Nishida compared her to Suo in their style of play — not so much the sadism, but the overall lack of attachment to the individual cards (I'm guessing here about Suo, but the way he was portrayed in today's episode has pushed me to that conclusion.)

Actually, if anything, it think it the opposite. Both Shinobu and Suo are incredibly attached to the cards in their own way.

Their detachment is not the cards, but the players they are playing with. In a sense they are way above the league compare to the rest of field that forces them to be by themselves with their cards.

@Odd
I'm going to agree with Undertaker here in that I believe Suo is detached from whoever he is playing with. Actually, Suo probably has more attachment to Shinobu even though they were not playing each other.

Chihiya is simple, but that just means that she is more like a blank slate. There are a lot of things you can add to her and develop her. As long as those are positive things, she will become an even better person. If she is influenced in a negative way, it could potentially be detrimental. However, right now, I see her moving in the right direction.

I hope it's not offending anyone. I read this comment awhile ago.
The comment is:
What went wrong? What wrong route was taken?
Overall, the comment and discussion was just fan imagination. It's not really the implication from the work.

Spoiler for random thought:

Shinobu... That was interesting development there XD
I just hope they're not going to show her thin as she was before the next time we see her, unless significant time has passed and we get an explanation. I kinda like her better this way, too, so it'd be a shame XD

I wonder what will happen to Chihaya if they do something similar with Daddy Bear?
