like a evil mage controled by.....the bad guy in turn XD,or like most animes or mangas the mother is dead by "X" reason....

Fortunately Ken has been doing a good job of weaving character and relationship development in with mandatory action-manga-says-training-time stuff, so I wouldn't mind several chapters of this after that exhausting festival arch.

At least until the end of the current "volume", as I have a feeling that, like volume 9 being a preparation volume for the Mahora Festival, the current "volume" is the preparation volume for Wales/Mage Country.

From what I saw, in:
Chapter 170 ~ it looked like Asuna and Negi were merely practicing fighting; i guess all that time in training FINALY paid off!
Chapter 171 ~ They are sent to a winter place... looks like asuna was doing a magic of some sort...looks like those forgotten memorise returning might help asuna in the future

anyone besidee me getting the vibes for a "Asuna's history" and maybe some in on negi's father arc? if this Asuna arc doesn't come now. its gonna come sooner or latre!

The arc that is currently going on in the Negima manga is more of a "training" arc than a "Asuna's history" arc, and if I read Ken Akamatsu's online diary right,

The next chapter will end the current arc (with the one after that being a "follow-up" chapter).

So basically,

outside of the next chapter (and possibly the chapter after that), any more development on Asuna's past will likely be saved until the Wales trip.

Amazingly, I see that Tokyopop is re-releasing Love Hina's first 3 volumes in a Single Easy To Carry Big Ass Volume.... I hope the spine on that thing is reinforced....

your probably right, Ken Akamatsu will most likely let this climax later on in the Wales trip, and it will end with another mystery starting and/or an answer another secret to strengthen the impact & make us want to read it even more.

Fate will most likely show up again in the manga. However, the big questions are:

1. When will he appear again?
2. Will Negi and his crew be able to handle him without Evangeline's help?

The other question is : what is his real faction?
he was merely a partner for the "renegade" of the kansai magic association, but he seems to have a bigger agenda than this.

but man, he is sure a big challenger to negi's crew, considering his skills (owning eishun isn't something to laught off) and eva's comments.

Spoiler for Chapter 174 MAJOR SPOILER ALERT:

Yuuna's dad (i.e. Professor Akashi) is examining a picture of Fate Averruncus just as Yuuna shows up behind him (and he quickly stashes it away) to greet him good morning (though in the process of trying to hide the picture, he inadvertedly lets Yuuna see a picture of a naked girl, which gets her all steamed ).
He also meets up with a white haired woman (making Yuuna very jealous - she really loves her mom, who's black haired like her). Someone identified her as Donette McGuinness, from England (her name appears to be Scottish, but being that she's believed to be a Ministra Magi of Negi's Grandfather, she's likely to be from Wales instead; one thing's for sure, when she talked with Prof Akashi, they spoke in English), and she's said to be a friend of Prof Akashi's wife/Yuuna's mother.
And in one flashback scene of a young Yuuna with her mom (young Yuuna is really cute!), Yuuna is playing with what looks like a Magic Wand!
This leads me to suspect that

Yuuna's family are mages themselves! (or at least, one of the parents is a mage while the other is a Ministra Magi; it is suspect by some criticals that Mrs. Akashi is the mage while Prof. Akashi is the Ministra) And perhaps Yuuna herself has magic potential too, but like Konoka, is being kept in the dark about it so she could have a normal life.

Well, given how Ken Akamatsu, either during the set-up for an arc or during a "rest period" between big action moments, usually gives a chapter to a character that will either play a major role in a big arc or be upgraded to "important character" during this arc (i.e. Konoka, Nodoka, and Asakura in the Kyoto arc; Chachamaru, Mana, and Chisame in the Mahora Festival arc), it's very likely that

Yuuna will probably join Negi's crew in the Wales arc.

Also, a few people on the AQS boards are speculating that the "magic research" that Yuuna's dad is doing is preparation for him to serve as an "adult guardian" when Negi and his crew go to Wales. Hence, that may mean that Yuuna will also take part in the trip as well.

Well given the sudden turn of events so fare I think it's safe to say almost (If not all of the girls in Negi's class are going to have a contract with him. Maybe this is Ken Akamatsu's master plain.
