The OP was impressive, the setting is excellent, but what really strikes me is the animation. Wow. I like what I saw so far.

At first I thought I wouldn't feel anything for the mere "loli" Index, who had neither the powerful-ness of Shana, nor the hard-core violence of Louise (ZnT) and Taiga (Toradora), not to mention this isn't a Kugimiya loli tsundere at all. But in the end Iguchi did well to win me over. But I still like Mikoto better. Upon hearing this series, I went to the manga stores to look for the series, only to find all the volume 1 novels missing from every store. How frustrating when you have to compete with everyone to get an idea of the story better. |

I hope Mikoto'll be more than a side character, as expected she will be a lot of people's favourite character of the series.
And for index, much much better than i thought she would. Not the shy and slow-down the whole damn show type character. Looking forward to next ep

The 'null' power always struck me as fairly interesting cliche. On one hand it's the weakest ability there is; it can't do anything at all. On the other hand, it's one of the strongest abilities because it nullifies the strongest abilities. It's a nice conjunction of "useless" and "overpowered" that can really define a character. Nullifying your own luck though...
Also, does this mean that magic and psychic powers are fundamentally the same, despite the effort made to establish their difference? |

Touma's ability allows him to negate any supernatural effects, in that sense magic and psychic are the same as the both of them give superhuman abilities to the user, but the system or concept in which they operate on is different. Without spoilling much, psychic powers are science based while magic is... A different field of study.

And supernatural doesn't really mean much if it's supposedly science-based. Nothing that's science-based can be supernatural, by definition. Kinda. |

Sort of like two different OS for a computer. They both provide the same function, but through different means and set up. By the way, a sandwich is not the work of technology. Supernatural is just the term used.

Well, so far, this is certainly the prettiest anime of the season. Edges out even Gundam 00 IMO. Hopefully they keep it going.
Then again, being pretty wasn't enough for me to keep going with Nabari no Ou (another JC staff anime) or Soul Eater (whose fight choreography is da bomb on top of the animation).
