there are only 9 Ushiromiya with the winged eagle and 4 of them have it facing on the left, I don't know how can be stated which is the right way or wrong way, since they are almost 50/50.

Does anyone know who named Rokkenjima?

The "Rokken Island" bit got me thinking about the name for the first time.

Does Rokkenjima actually translate into something? Like does 'jima' mean Island? Cause that seems to be what they translated.
I don't think it's stated who named it.

It means "Six House Island", which could have pretty weird implications.

Yeah, that could go sending weird messages... I guess it's just like calling an island Christmas Island? It's the name of it, but it doesn't really correspond with anything. Hmm...

Okay, I guess a more direct question is: do we know if Kinzo named Rokkenjima, or if it was already the name before he bought it?

".....In ancient times, Rokkenjima was feared, and called 'Azukishima' (Azuki Bean Island). The 'Azuki' is said to be a mispronounced form of 'Akujiki' and in fact it was called 'Akujikishima' (Evil Appetite Island). That is what is told among the fishermen."`

So we actually don't know who and why called it Rokkenjima. But it appears the renaming happened before Kinzo became the owner.

Didn't Ep3 or Ep4 have a discussion on Rokkenjima's original name? I think it was in passing but I'm definitely sure some characters discussed it.

Christmas Island was named as such because it was discovered on Christmas Day.

Pretty sure Kinzo renamed it after he bought it.

Nothing is set in stone, but that seems the most likely.

Higurashi had 4 Main Question Arcs, plus a ton of extra ones from the magna and PS2 port; it also had 4 main Answer arcs with extras in the same fasion, and then Rei and the light novels.

Umineko currently has the main 4 Question Arcs and no extras, with the first answer arc just announced. So the main series will probably end next year, but if it follows Higurashi's example, the full series might last a good while.

After cleaning a lot of posts, I must remind the purpose of Q&A:

All Q&A on AS have the purpose to actually give proper facts and the like for the anime series.
Therefore, it is NOT a thread to ask about details from the games (unless general, like how many episodes so far etc), nor a thread to ask confirmation regarding some events or about theories.

If you do have a question regarding an event or so in a certain Episode, please post it in the ACCORDING thread or make a PM to someone that can actually answer the question.
But please do NOT use the Q&A thread.

Here's a quick question, just in general about the anime/games/world: what info do people have on the layout of the mansion and guest house? It could be important for some of the crimes e.g. how far the killer may have had to move a body, how close one scene was to another, if any rooms directly connect to one another, etc.

I realized midway through the games that I really should have been noting all the location information down (e.g. which rooms are on which floor), but I haven't taken the time to replay them all.

I don't remember any clear explanation about how the rooms are displaced. Anyway you can understand from a few facts that the parlor the kitchen and the dining room are on first floor, and that the bedrooms (including Kinzo's room) are one (or two?) stories above, which is kinda normal in a western mansion.

There is no way to understand how all these rooms are connected nor it is certain how many rooms are there in total.

The room where Krauss keeps the ingot is said to have no windows. Quite a mysterious room, and you can't tell if others of that kind exist.
