On a more serious note, it's really nice of them.

Trust me, I'm a Ranka fan before a AruRan fan, so Alto isn't the best ship I could do; as I dislike his choice of character (the way Kawamori made him); yet I could see the SherriRan pairing working out.

I liked the three together, movie wise (even if I had bias for Sheryl/Ranka even if I was pretty sure on the Alto/Sheryl). Maybe not just romantically, but I felt their trio dynamic was far more balanced than in the TV series... where they didn't give a 'verbal' resolution. Funny how that works ("triangular" versus "end of the triangle"). Something about how the events played made more emphasis on them relying on each other without being used as crutch (there was some kind of improvement on Ranka's plot arcs and Sheryl's past connection, IMO).

Spoiler for so spoilers:

I'm thrilled that dshootingstarb is about Sheryl and Ranka.

I'm gonna put my thoughts under the spoiler tag to save space, and also to make sure I don't spoil anything. I'm only gonna go by the 1st movie and small summaries, but with no speculations.

Spoiler for friendship:

As tempting as it is to take the bait, I won't (and I'd encourage others not to, as we'd all just be going in circles again and again).

Anyway, thanks darkaplatform for the awesome pic.
I certainly can't wait to see that particular scene play out when when the DVD/BD gets released.

It's not a temptation. I actually stated some big overlooked scenarios and whatnot of the 1st movie. Also, my information was about their friendship vs. their romantic attachment. Plus, if you read the very end, you'll probably understand WHY I'm not in agreement with the triangle's end.

Spoiler for Alto holds the friendship together more than Ranka & Sheryl:

Yeah, I read the last part. Amazing how you can read behind Alto's motivations (an absurd one to note) when (again and again) you have not seen the movie.

Anyway, have fun.

Which can either be overanalyzation of simple gestures or simply your representation of simple hints of relationship development on more platonic side in one side.

Either way, I always view Itsuwari movie's triangle to be more equalized than having a lopsided side. *shrugs* (Not taking the bait since I'm sure we will disagree. I just like to state my view.)

Though high chance we might not agree with your view, so it made an infinite loops of argument The joy of disagreeing of views~!

Once more: are we watching the same series?

Honestly,
Spoiler for friendship:
It is another proof that Ranka and Alto think the same things.

Also,
Spoiler for earring, Sheryl's hope?:

PS: WRAP SPOILER TAGS AROUND MY QUOTE! It spoils the ending!

Honestly,
Spoiler for friendship:
You're forgetting something here, no spoilers since it's from the first movie. Sheryl thanked BOTH Alto and Ranka because thanks to both of them, she's not alone anymore. She immediately takes a liking of her (like in the TV series), their past is more connected (not just the girls with Alto's). Just like Alto, Ranka is latter confronted about "Sheryl being a spy" and disobeys her brother, going to the concert. It shows she matters to her. Both connect in subtle ways, Sheryl urges Alto to save Ranka too...

Then there is a months-jump to the second movie where you can assume their friendship deepened.

What I mean with better plotline for Ranka was because, in the TV series, she was shafted permanently Put in a Bus as a Damsel in Distress which hurt her development. I felt she had a LOT of potential and it seemed to shine in the first movie (even if she did get a damsel in distress role in the end, it came with an heroic sacrifice not as a bystander way or after a bad decision).

In Sheryl's case, what felt like a plothole was her connection with Mao Nome. This was fixed in the movies.

Yeah, I got my bugbears with the movie characterizations, too, although I limit this to movie one, as I've seen a subtitled version of it. Maybe movie two will put those bugbears to rest, so I'll refrain from commenting again on them for now.

If by funny you mean "incredibly cute", then you are right.

Can anyone who saw the 2nd movie confirm if Ranka and/or Sheryl wore these kimono inspired dresses:

Thanks in advance.
