I really am looking forward to seeing how this will resolve in episode 10 One thing for sure is that Akari did acquire the powers of snow and cold like in FF when you learn ICE magic. Episode is 10/10! Fear factor was incredible with its emotions!

Well I pity her too....it was emotional but I guess it might have affected you emotionally as much as me. It gave me tears in the end a little.

A rather filler-ish episode, but an entertaining one IMO. Akari's backstory was pretty sad, and the dad seemed like a careless douche. I can't wait to see how this is resolved. I think the dad will participate in whatever they're doing despite his inital refusal.

Well, you could call the past 3 episodes filler-ish honestly. It makes me wonder if this is really only going to be 1-cour. Has that actually been confirmed? I also don't recall seeing a new Anime no Chikara series for fall season.

There only three shows announced for Anime no Chikara. Sora no Woto, Senkou no Night Raid and Occult Academy.

2-cour would be AWESOME. Indeed, at this rate, two episodes is not going to be enough to wrap it up, especially since there's only been vague hints about the cause so far (vice principal).

Maya and the gang wait on Akari's dad's front door for him to talk to them. After the long hours he finally relents. He tells of Akarai's life and the circumstances that led to her death. Their family was broken because he valued his job more. Akari's mother left. As we've seen dad was neglectful. Akari died in front of her house waiting for Santa Claus. Akari's dad got the call while doing over time. By the time he reached the hospital she was already dead.

The gang plans a Christmas party for Akari they only need a Santa.

On Fumiyaki he tries to be helpful but loins get the better of him earning a punch from Maya. Mikaze just casually enters the school.

After a tour of death in Mikaze Porche her and Fumiyaki end up at the shop where Fumiyaki starts to say goodbye. VP Chichi enter the scene inviting him to diner. Maya is mentioned and he leaves both girls to help her.

The gang prepared for the Christmas party arrive at Akari's home where she is still waiting up front. They party and finally Santa is to come out. Fumiyaki is about to go in till someone comes from behind. Santa enter and it is Akari's dad. He hugs her and she thanks Santa for the snow globe present. Her father asks for her forgiveness. Akari finally her wish fulfilled her spirit comes to rest and thanks her father and leaves with the snow globe to the afterlife.

Later the guys wonder where Fumiyaki went to.

Maya and Fumiyaki go to her demolished home and relates a story about her and her father during Christmas. Her Christmas wish was to have an Occult Academy. She has now the resolve to protect he father's legacy, find the Key of Nostradamus and find her father's killer.

Spoiler for Yuumajuu Chronicles 10 - Miracle Heart:

Foils, character interplay, all things tying back into the grander scheme - no reason to doubt what the writers were doing. The last few minutes were very touching, and though Akari's house wasn't Maya's, the parallel plotlines wrapped up in a nice way. The speech at the end was nice too (though really, Maya, call him "Fumiaki". Small detail, though.) I can understand the buildup to this point - Maya knew she had to look for the key, but she wasn't ready for it yet. Personal demons must be overcome, and what is a show if not the events of its characters?

Well that was quite the episode. A nice end to the story of sad girl in snow, together with very impressive finish to the current development on Maya. Must say it's very touching to add in the fact that Maya's father built the school because it was her wish. That completely came out of nowhere, and i loved it.

Did anyone check out Mikaze's face after Bunmei ran away to see Maya? That together with the preview for next weeks episode, and it's pretty obvious to make out that she's trying to pull apart the two. I'm guessing it could be so they don't find the Key, though that brings up the question of just how is Mikaze. I'm sure we'll find out soon.

As for the preview.. yeah Maya's death. Wonder how that will play out.

Why is it every time Fumiaki does something gar-like it gets interrupted by something or someone? Speaking of interruption this episode pretty much confirms Mikaze isn't what it seems, not that anyone is surprised.

It's a small detail but I really wished Maya used Fumiaki instead of Bunmei in her "I'm ready, let's do this" speech.

Anyway lovely episode, can't wait for the next episode although going by the preview and the next episode title I don't think I want to watch it if Maya does die. It also looks like Mikaze will be using every trick in the book to get Fumiaki's attention, that should be interesting.

That was a nice conculsion to Akari's storyline, although I have to confess it didn't do much for me, probably because it was so predictable. Or maybe I'm just cold. I'm not sure what to think about the revelation that Maya's father built the school for her, but I'm okay with it since it gave Maya the motivation she needed to protect the school (and incidentally, Earth).

She's so lovely. I also noticed the face she made when Fumiaki refused her invitation but I still want to believe in her a little longer. Maybe she's just jealous... yeah, probably not. In any case, the next episode ought to be very interesting, in many ways.

Yeah, there hasn't been all that much about the main plot at all. Not that I'm complaining, since these sub-arcs have been amazing in their execution and development of Fumiaki and Maya, but I'm worried that they'll rush the plot at the end because they focused too much on side stories. If that happened it would put a bad mark on an otherwise excellent anime.

Fantastic episode, the atmosphere and drama was played up really well and almost brought tears to my eyes; I could definitely feel the lump in my throat while watching Akari and her father say their goodbyes. The MayaxFumiaki dynamic is also being fully played up now, and in my opinion XEBEC has done an excellent job at justifying their feelings for each other. I can understand why some people were wary of having yet another "Girl A and Boy A must end up together" anime but the way the relationship was developed in Occult Gakuin really makes it excusable. It's not like they fell for each other just 3 episodes after meeting, it's something that built up subtly and with good reason, and for that it gets a pass. If nothing else, this should be seen as how to build up a relationship if you're going to have the main characters fall in love.

As for next episode, I'm guessing Maya's "death" won't really be a big part of the plot and is only meant to serve as a red herring, since they spoiled the shit out of that in just the preview and even the name of the episode. At the very least, it'll be interesting to see how Fumiaki reacts to it. It also looks like Mikaze will be making her final play at Fumiaki next episode, and it looks like it's going to be a good attack.

That's what I thought when I saw Maya dead too and remembered the look Mikaze gave Fumiaki this episode after he left her to meet Maya. It would one hell of a twist if Mikaze really is the one that killed Maya over jealousy.
