It seems that gameplay wasn't that much different, except that units enter an automatic Overwatch stance and fire at enemies at the end of their turns.
Also, it seems that there was a prescripted cutscene for every action I can see why they toned this down in the actual game. The development cost would be expensive.

Though yeah, implementing the game such as that build showed would be back-breakingly expensive and technically nightmarish. And I LOL'd at this:

Chitin Plating supposedly gives you a chance to shrug off effects like Chryssalid infestation from what I understand. One of the devs called it a "Chryssalid Condom" oddly enough

Also, on the Chitin Armor just got clarification that it just increases resistance to melee attack, so you don't get instagibbed by Chryssalids. Impossible Difficulty is sending some good signals up my gaming difficulty meter. Each and every game they attempted on Impossible has ended in complete and utter rape for XCOM. And this is on the neutered Impossible Difficulty, aka changing difficulty mid-mission instead of actually playing an Impossible campaign. At least we can lay to rest the "game looks too easy" complaints.

In many cases I'd be cautious about this, but at the rate that the Rewards are being unlocked (Xcom went up on steam for sale only last night, and they're already at 69% for the first reward), I think it's very likely that we'll at least get the Elite Soldier pack and the TF2 items.
