It's not like grinding to Tier 5 is especially difficult. It's the grind from 5 to 10 that requires you to activate addict mode in order to get anywhere within a reasonable amount of time, unless you spend money on premium and gold. That said, there have been people who have reached Tier 10 without paying a single cent, so it's certainly possible.

Btw, for those wanting some firepower (or get dragged to the upper tiers and get killed mercilessly), my handle is LoweGear, NA server.

I mostly play Tier V tanks (Churchill Mk.1, M4 Sherman, M10 Wolverine) and Tier 6 (M18 Hellcat), though I do have a Tier IV as of current for fun runs (Matilda), and a Tier 8 T32 I'm working on to grind to the M103.

Be warned, the Tiger in WoT suck big time. Well, not that bad, but it's not quite the armored death machine that people make it out to be due to the fact that all of its competition is present and accounted for in-game (the IS, T29, Black Prince etc.). The Tiger is great for sniping, but it's not really a Heavy Tank you can go and do Wittman feats in unless you're really good with it.

Now the Tiger II... oh my fond memories of that thing in WoT

My main focus is the Panzer IV though... I think of it with armor skirts is very, very sexy

To get the pzIV you will have to sweat blood. The biggest (and hated) obstacle is the pz38na, that thing sees Tier 6-7 quite frequently, tier 8 if you have very bad luck.

Before the change on the matchmaking it was a feat of strength if you could pass to the PzIV grinding all the way trough the pz38 line, and on those times it worth the trouble.

Be sure to use the 10.5 cm gun for that. The 7.5 cm L/70 is a bit annoying, I've heard.
