Divx 5.02 annoying little thing

While a very good codec(in my mind) it has a ver annoying feature. Eaxh time a episode is played a little watermark type thing comes up in the lower right corner syaing "DIVX" Is ther any way to taking this thing off?

I have noticed that but, IT DOESNT BOTHER ME what you can do reinstall the previous version of divx or find another divx codec made by other programmers

or here is an idea, take the source code of the codec and recode it to your needs, maybe you can improve it a bit and then put your own logo cool eh ?

I've never noticed that before. Was that put in when someone encoded the file?

anyways... just use the vlc player and don't bother with codecs if it's a problem.

I'm pretty sure that you can turn this off in the divx decoder options. Atleast you used to be able to do that, not sure about the recent versions as I haven't had DivX installed on my PC since DivX 5.02 or so.

All versions of DivX 5 have this "feature" and the earlier ones are of very little use (not that you'd need DivX 5 either if you have xvid and/or ffdshow).

Also, how exactly do you take the source code of a closed-source program?

It doesn't bother me because I use ffdshow.

I believe you need to purchase DivX to remove that watermark. At least in the files you encode because if a video already has it, it wont be removed.

Just switch to XviD. No annoying watermarks and it's free.

Also, I'm pretty sure there is a hack to remove that watermark. You can find it here.

Even though I use ffdshow like most everyone else, I happen to know how to get rid of that anoying watermark.

Open Your Start Menu

Start > Program Files > DivX > DivX Codec > Decoder Configuration Utility

If you dont have the DivX program group in your start menu, use the find feature and search for "config.exe."
