Is Meg Rock composing again an OP for each character? I only saw her stage name in the Hitagi OP credits.

I'm confused as to something that Tsukihi said during the first episode. She said that "she doesn't know where the middle sister is," and then Koyomi thought of Nadeko. Does that mean that Tsukihi thinks of Nadeko as her middle sister? How old are Karen, Nadeko, and Tsukihi anyway?

Araragi calls Karen the big sister and Tsukihi the small sister, according to their sizes. There is no middle sister. Tsukihi was just throwing a tantrum.

IIRC Karen is 15 while Tsukihi and Nadeko are 14, but don't count on my memory.

I have a theory about what the OP animation means. I heard some complaints about how sparse and "boring" the animation means, but I think this reflects Hitagi's character at this point. I haven't read the novels, so I can be too sure, but I hear that Hitagi overcomes some trauma as the story goes on. Shaft being Shaft, they'll add onto the animation throughout the series as she emerges into her genuine self, and it'll be nice and even more colorful soon enough. That being said, I don't think any of the other characters besides Karen and Tsukihi will have their own opening this time.

I see; it's just that Tsukihi's tantrum reminded me of the scene from Nadeko Snake where Nadeko's flashback says "that Bara-chan [possibly Karen?] plays with me; she has an older brother in 6th grade." That made me wonder just how far apart in age Nadeko is from Koyomi, Karen, and Tsukihi. The age difference will certainly be played up in Nadeko Medusa, which from the looks of it, will not be animated this season (too many intervening light novels to animate first).

Now that I think about it, they could use the OP to summarize a few things from the novels instead of using the actual episode. It would be a novel technique. Don't know if Shaft would be bold enough to do it, but it's not a bad idea. With a rhythm of 50 pages per 20 minute episode, the minute and a half of the OP would be worth 3,75 pages of story. Indeed, it could really be a good idea

The power of merchandising. They will all have OP. Possibly there could even be as many as 13 OP if some girls sing twice.
EDIT:

It's "Rara-chan", the middle part of the Araragi surname. By Rara-chan Nadeko meant her friend Tsukihi.

That topic is for for the light novel thread.

That would be really great. To actually use the OP for something "useful". You have to be somewhat creative and clever to fit things into 1 min 30 secs, though. Well, it's Shaft after all

Nisemonogatari is 11 Episodes Long

from myanimelist
Quote:
According to Otona Anime magazine vol.23, Nisemonogatari was announced to be 11 episodes long. Director Shinbo Akiyuki intended to reproduce the high pace of the conversation of the characters in the novel with the relatively short length of the series. Shinbo also said he wanted to animate all the Monogatari novels and catch up with the newly published Koimonogatari. There have been twelve Monogatari novels published so far and the whole series will be concluded by the next three volumes: Tsukimonogatari, Owarimonogatari, and Zoku Owarimonogatari, to be released this year.

i think it just about right, Nisemonogatari novel shorter than Bakemonogatari, though it would be better if it have 12 ep
Quote:
Bakemonogatari Novels: 864 pages/15 anime episode = 57.6 pages per episode.
Nisemonogatari Novels: 668 pages/11 anime episode = 60.7 pages per episode.

"Shinbo also said he wanted to animate all the Monogatari novels and catch up with the newly published Koimonogatari"

That would be awesome.
