6 days to go until the dvd version, there was a 5 page spread from Beat Magazine posted on Macross World with a Kawamori interview.

Regarding the three versions of episode 1, Kawamori really wanted to have something broadcast last year for the 25th anniversary, thus the De Culture edition. The De Culture edition is like a movie, while the TV version focuses on the characters and feels more like a TV episode. Bandai Visual asked for a complete longer episode, so music, BGM, etc. will be different on the extended version and Kawamori hopes the impression is different.

I really hope they fix the timing of the BGM for "The Target" and return it to how it was used in Deculture, the way it started in the tv version was off... I'm guessing Don't Be Late gets a full playing in this version too, wonder what new scenes if any they will sneak in.

I watched the first episode today. Took me this long to watch the series because I didn't really pay attention to this anime. The only thing I knew about it was the famous nyan-nyan video that Ranka Lee sings. I'm starting to really like the anime now thanks to this episode. I'm going to watch more today =D

The animation will never really be as good as this first episode (except the mecha battles, I'd wager), but the series itself will get better. Nice choice, you made. Welcome to the fanbase.
