There is a slim chance some people have watched his movies and don't know who he is so I will say - he's the guy who directed Memento, Insomnia, The Prestige etc...
And yeah Arkuatic, Jedinat got it right I'm by no means an anime connoisseur, but I do love a select few of them. However I always find myself trying to find hidden gems. Really worthwhile anime. And I decided to come up with this hypothetical scenario for filtering loads of (imo bad) anime. Not that there is something akin to a Chris Nolan movie out there, in terms of anime, but maybe there is something close in some ways, that people might want to recommend |

so he wants something like some of the movies in here : http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0634240/
Memento, The Prestige, Insomnia, Batman Begins, and the Dark Knight Can't think of any of the top of my head though.

The first thing that came to mind was Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, but that's a little shaky. Still, much of the series is basically a starting incident and puzzling together the pieces that led up to that incident. The main plot is much more philosophical than personal, though.
It's definitely not an easy question to answer, though, considering that Nolan's work usually has a very unique style and depth to it. I'd be hard pressed to match any other movie with his, let alone an anime. |

In all honesty, the only Nolan film I've seen is Memento (great film), but going on that, I'll echo DeDB's recommendation of anything by Kon, particularly Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress. There's a similarly ambiguous sense of chronology and surreal scene transitions in a lot of Kon's works as there are in a film like Memento.

seen the set-up of the Christopher Nolan movies, you definately going to like the Death Note plot, you might also like the plot created in Monster.
Since Memento and The Prestige are based on great creative and twisted storylines and endings, those should be your first 2 to watch |
