Because the show's main demographic targets were still in diapers when the story started. Every now and then you have to make a recap episode to explain what's what and who's who so the new viewers can understand what's going on.

Ugh, lame flashback episode.

Only the last few minutes were worth anything.

BTW it should be obvious Sakura is not going to join Sasuke. Sakura's not stupid, she knows she can't beat Sasuke if she challenges him to a fight. So she's going to deceive him. Give the boy a hug and stab him in the back with a kunai.

Notice how Sakura shows up in the opening a couple of times and in one point she's crying while holding a kunai. Then at the end of the opening there's her hand with a kunai.

BTW, I'm an anime only guy, so if I'm right, don't confirm it

Sakura's probably like a character from one of those action-adventure RPGs, where you can play two factions to your own favor...

She already played Naruto, I wouldn't be surprised if she's just playing Sasuke...Although where Naruto will act like a tough-guy with a stonewall messiah attitude, Sasuke would probably just move to kill her...

Sasuke's already thrown out the "You've outlived your usefulness" in order to try to kill Karin off...Take a hint! One dead fangirl is a tragedy; Two dead fangirls is a statistic...

yep. it was a huge waste of time. I was waiting for the new episode all week, and it was no fun except for the bombshell at the end.

I wouldn't have mind the flashbacks only if they were shorter. They took up most of the episode. I hope next episode doesn't turn out this way.

Too many flashback scene's for my liking.. I do however really like the Opening and closing credits
really nice tunes,always find myself bopping to them..hehe...

I think the animation team realized they had to slow things down so they won't catch up to the manga. What they should do is follow what they did with the first arc's episodes. They did longer shots that extend the time, but show more of the surrounding atmosphere or facial expressions like a Sergio Leone western. The opening scene to Once Upon a Time in the West is a good example, along with the three way duel in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. If you go back and look at the first arc, it was similar how they use little details like that in those movies. I'd prefer that to flashbacks we've already seen a million times.

Also, I can't believe no one has commented on this, but Tsunade with glasses in the ED is love.

Nope, pacing will be back to normal in a couple of episodes. And if they realize they are catching up, they will just do more fillers. They tried the super slow pacing with the first two arcs and haven't done it since then.

Yep that episode was kind of bad as others have stated there was only like 2-3 minutes of actual episode. Kallen4life is right, Sakura was able to take out not one, not two, but 3 elite ninjas lol. When the episode got interesting it was over.

She used a simple diversion and made these guys attack each other. She used their emotions in order to find a weakspot. Well, these smoke bombs are really something else, don't you think? She used it outdoors and it worked out perfectly. Why don't they always use them? It would be easy business to stab the knocked out enemies with kunai after that and it would be proper ninja style.

1) Sasuke's high contrast rape-face
