it might be worth watching if you like romance fantasy. some of it is a bit drawn out.

This is gonna sound like a real newb question (and I not really a newb), but is Fushigi Yuugi licensed (the TV series). I was looking at the Grand Licensing list and it doesn't show up there- only the OVA does. Any help would be appreciated- thanks

yeah its license and its all release by Geneon.

They are about to rerelease it under a new price.

it's been licensed for many years, it's even appeared on the International Channel before
and there's really no point to licensing an OVA that wouldn't make a lick of sense w/o the TV series

The Grand High Licensing List only goes back to around 2001 or so. I actually wish they would clear out the stuff that's been completely released so there's less clutter.

It was never meant to be a list of all anime commercially released It was started to list anime titles that were licensed and would be released in the future. They didn't include any titles that were already released when the list started (Fushigi Yuugi being one of them).

Of course, a quick search in amazon.com, rightstuf.com, animenation.com or any other online anime store could easily have answered your question.

I just love his happy-go-lucky attitude and the comedic manner he uses to deal with problems. You also can't forget the "no da" he adds to the end of every sentence. ^^

Ahh, Fushigi Yuugi. <3 The anime that made me fall in love with anime.

My favorite is close between Hotohori, Nuriko, and Tasuki... but Hotohori wins. <3 I love how honorable and polite he acts~

And my least favorite is Miaka. ^_^; I think she and Tamahome were annoying... ^^;

considering the entire cast was male, and i'm straight, so as far as these characters go, i obviously don't like them "in that way"

Mainly his personality is a lot more direct than the other characters, who are all annoying bishounen (Yuu Watase can't write men very well, for instance, not every man would be attracted to a whiny middle school student with the intelligence of a lump of coal, given the choice between the girls of Fushigi Yuugi, i'd pick Yui over Miaka any day of the week, even if she is a bitch, at least she doesn't whine half as much as miaka)

Right, I don't get why the names have to be repeated so much.
Miaka goes "Hotohori, Tamahome!" like 100 times in one ep, like if ppl forgot their names or something >_>.

WOW! Dead thread ><... Well IMO I loved the anime.... It was awsome and my fave characters are Hotohori and Tamahome. If I were to be miaka I would so have chosen to be with Hotohori because he is so handsome. I was so into the story that when Miaka was sad so was I, when any one of the suzaku seshi died I would cry with the rest. I even cried at the end.... such a sad yet wonderful show... I Loved it and I still watch it over again... I have also picked uop the next series of the manga FY.

I liked the show but one character really took it down a couple of notches.

Miaka has to be one of the most frustarting persons ever.
She is so naive, so stupid and can't actually do anything herself except getting her or the others into trouble.
She never ever thinks ahead, is extremly illogical and doesn't ever seem to understand what kind of trouble she is in or that there are many out there who wants to kill her. Totally obilivious of the dangers out there and the fact she has to be on her guard always makes her even more frustrating.
She really drags this show down since I think all the other characters are ok or good.

As much as I enjoyed this anime, it got old with how many times Miaka ran straight into trouble, and how someone would always have to rescue her. Yui's bigger part in the show later on really refreshed my liking for this anime.
