The original series (and sequel season) was the actual deviation. |

That much is clear, but the TV series was so much more fun that some generic harem with magical detectives.
It was great precisely of how ludicrous and over-the-top it was. The new season, the VN and Alternative are just boring.

Well ep 2 showed the original 4 aren't quite as perfect and competent as they'd have us believe, which gives me some hope for the series as a whole.
And 2 new girls continue their journey of yuribonds magical girlness becoming great detectives, and hopefully their future be more than shield and arrow spam .

Episode 2:
You can say that it's what salvaged the series for me, because, through this episode it proved 3 things: (1) The Phantom Thieves Empire still actually exist. (2) The Milky Holmes are actually ALMOST the same as they were in the original series. Only now, they have a public image which is actually a bit different from what they are. And they have Toys. (3) The new detectives aren't ACTUALLY part of the official Milky Holmes, but they ARE based from them, which kinda still makes them Milky Holmes. That arrow Toys sounded awesome at the end. It kinda looks like Kazumi + Alice's Toys combined together, don't you think?

Ep 3, the title should be 'This show isn't Milky Holmes!' .
It honestly feels more like a magical girl show with the detective theme-ing to it, almost like the original premise implied , so far though it's still felt mediocre at best at that part as well, maybe that will change as it goes along though.

I'm not really enjoying this, and it's not simply because the girls of Milky Holmes aren't as crazy as in JCStaff's first two seasons.
Despite the show still being called Milky Holmes, the season has primarily focused on the Feathers so far... and I can't say I'm enjoying their efforts at all. Their entire characters are designed to chase after the Milky Holmes' shadows, and with less personality quirks to make them stand out and seem interesting or amusing at the very least, it's difficult for me to care about them at all. |

Well ep4 was at least interesting a bit compared to 3, though still no fun allowed time .
If it stays moderately interesting I plan to keep watching, but still far away from what S1 and S2 achieved to me.

Well episode 5 was a nice mystery about an old women with a strange habit, so with an actual mystery it was good this week, though still no fun nor milky holmes again .
But if it will actually make them be detectives by show and action rather than just title I think I'll enjoy it.

I think my biggest problem with this show is that the Milky Holmes girls are relegated being side characters despite the franchise being named after them.
When Kazumi and Alice's designs where new, I was hoping they were characters being introduced into the Milky Holmes circle, but instead we have them doing nearly everything on their own while the flagship girls have only a few minutes of screentime per episode. |
