Ketamine Relieves Depression By Restoring Brain Connections

Quote:
Scientists say they have figured out how an experimental drug called ketamine is able to relieve major depression in hours instead of weeks.

Researchers from Yale and the National Institute of Mental Health say ketamine seems to cause a burst of new connections to form between nerve cells in parts of the brain involved in emotion and mood.

hard to believe it would just miss.
Technically, when flying over Iran you would want to fly at the maximum service altitude for passanger aircrafts.

For many planes that would be something in the region of 12.000m. According to Wikipedia this AA system has an engagement range of 12.000m and an engagement altitude of 6.000m. Now assuming it might be capable of reaching even 12.000m, it would still require the total engagement range to reach those heights. Which gives a window of attack equal to an area about nil around the missile launcher.

So, even if someone is very, very unlucky to fly straight over one such missile launcher, it would still be sort of a miracle to hit a transcontinental plane flying at its service ceiling using the mentioned missiles.

Revolt of the Spooks:

"Intelligence held back from senior officials and the public includes numerous
classified reports revealing clear Iranian support for jihadists throughout the
tumultuous North Africa and Middle East region, as well as notably widespread al
Qaeda penetration into Egypt and Libya in the months before the deadly Sept. 11
terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

“The Iranian strategy is two-fold: upping the ante for the Obama administration’s
economic sanctions against Iran and perceived cyber operations against Iran’s
nuclear weapons program by conducting terror attacks on soft U.S. targets and
cyber attacks against U.S. financial interests,” said one official, speaking
confidentially.

The Iranian effort also seeks to take the international community’s spotlight off
Iran’s support for its Syrian ally."

His body was found shortly after, dead of course.
At the risk of sounding extremely insensitive, the man was a complete moron.

The waves are hitting the cliff up to like 10 feet tall, and you try to FISH?
Even discounting the suicidal stupidity, how do you even plan to catch a fish through waves six times higher than your height?

Really?

Well, I guess next issue of Darwin Award got an extra page added to it.

Pope's butler convicted, gets 18-month sentence

Quote:
The pope's butler was convicted Saturday of stealing the pope's private documents and leaking them to a journalist, and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Judge Giuseppe Dalla Torre read the verdict aloud two hours after the three-judge panel began deliberating Paolo Gabriele's fate.

Declassified at Last: Air Force’s Supersonic Flying Saucer Schematics

Quote:
Officially, aliens have never existed but flying saucers very nearly did. The National Archives has recently published never-before-seen schematics and details of a 1950s military venture, called Project 1794, which aimed to build a supersonic flying saucer.

The newly declassified materials show the U.S. Air Force had a contract with a now-defunct Canadian company to build an aircraft unlike anything seen before. Project 1794 got as far as the initial rounds of product development and into prototype design. In a memo dating from 1956 the results from pre-prototype testing are summarized and reveal exactly what the developers had hoped to create.

A member of the House Science Committee says that the theories of evolution, the big bang, and embryology are all lies.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/1...6pLid%3D216577

Quote:

Congressman Paul Broun (R-Ga.) said last week that evolution and the big bang theory are "lies straight from the pit of Hell."

"God's word is true. I've come to understand that. All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the big bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell," said Broun, who is an MD. "It's lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior."

He continued:

"You see, there are a lot of scientific data that I've found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth. I don't believe that the earth's but about 9,000 years old. I believe it was created in six days as we know them. That's what the Bible says."

According to NBC News, Broun's comments were part of a larger speech given at the 2012 Sportsman's Banquet at Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell, Georgia on September 27th. A clip of the video was distributed by the The Bridge Project, a liberal watchdog group.

Broun is a high-ranking member of the House Science Committee, of which Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) is also a member.

Akin made headlines last month for suggesting that women don't get pregnant from "legitimate rape" because their bodies have "ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

As Gawker points out, Broun made headlines in 2009 for trying to make 2010 "the year of the Bible."

Broun is running for reelection unopposed, the AP reports.

I'm fine if many Christians don't believe in evolution, to their credit the theory has some weak areas, but to deny the science on embryo studies? And the world is not merely 9,000 years old. I know some Christians who believe the world is really 4.5 billion years old and that the universe is around 13.8 billion years old. You can acknowledge many things about science and still be Jewish, Christian, or Muslim.

Those aren't Christians because they don't respect people with different beliefs. Neither do they respect God in his sole right to judge humans.

Either way, people like that idiot Paul Broun have no business anywhere near any buttons that do anything.

Hand him a stone age till, some rags, and let him knock himself out but no magic toys for him.

No, I don't respect him - he's an idiot who does active damage to all of us at his post.

Ehhhh, I know a fair amount about the history of Christianity. Christianity has never been big on "respecting those with different beliefs". Christianity is "universalist" and so doesn't allow for the existence of alternative moral orders. If you have different beliefs, you are at best a heretic misguided by Satan. Either way, you're just waiting to be "saved" by Jesus.

Likewise, saying they feel God has the sole right to judge humans isn't very accurate to the Christian view (though it describes Judaism or Islam to a tee), as Christianity is built on the idea of forgiveness of sins. IE by believing in Jesus Christ, and seeking salvation through him(and by extension his church), you escape God's judgement. Though this somewhat depends on your denomination. In short, God isn't really a judge in the way he is in Judaism/Islam, because he loves you, and if you don't love him back, you're doomed to go to hell...

Okinawans “Trying To Down Osprey With Kites”:

I think that is universal in all the JCE books. Basically it's tsundere - it treats you horribly (through all the bad moments in life), but still cares for you and wants you to love it.

And there isn't any real way to show that you love it back because it is 100x more powerful than you, can create whatever you can give to prove your love for it and doesn't require anything from you.

Other than you loving and respecting the rest of its creation, of course. That is why I love lolis, the purest and most innocent of all its creation - *gets struck by a bolt of lightning*

Israeli air force shoots down drone aircraft
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/...89508720121007
Quote:
Israel's Army Radio reported the drone was not carrying any explosives.
Israeli parliament member Miri Regev, a former chief spokesman of the military, wrote on Twitter it was an "Iranian drone launched by Hezbollah", referring to the Lebanese Shi'ite group that fought a war with Israel in 2006.
Defence officials would not confirm Hezbollah's connection to the drone.
On at least one occasion, Iranian-backed Hezbollah has launched a drone into Israel. And in 2010, an Israeli warplane shot down an apparently unmanned balloon in the Negev near the country's Dimona nuclear reactor.

LASER STRIKES against US planes on the rise:

"Zap attacks now at 'epidemic' levels"

"So what kind of jerk points a laser at a plane anyway? According to the Feds,
criminals have been known to aim lasers at aircraft intentionally to throw off
airborne surveillance, but those cases are relatively uncommon. Usually, plane-
zappers fit one of two profiles: some are minors with no criminal history, while the
rest are usually older men with "a reckless disregard for the safety of others."

Although there have been no known incidents of an airplane actually crashing due
to a laser strike, the FBI says there have been eye injuries, enough to make the
current "epidemic" of laser attacks a serious threat to aviation security."
