Enslaved (By Heavenly Sword's Dev)
Here it comes , Heavenly Sword's Dev next project : Enslaved with more footages.
A post-apocalypse game . Genre: Action Publisher: Namco Bandai Developer: Ninja Theory Also on: PS3 , XBOX 360 Release Date : ? Summary : More than 150 years in the future, the world has transformed into an unrecognizable state where all that remains are a dwindling human population and merciless robots left over from wars long past. In Enslaved, players take on the role of Monkey, a strong and brutish loner, and his AI partner Trip, a technologically savvy but sheltered young woman from a peaceful community. Both become captured by a mysterious slave ship, which are rumored to harvest people and take them out west never to return. As they each attempt to escape, Trip realizes quickly that Monkey, with his raw strength and power, is the only hope she has of making the perilous journey back home. She hacks into a slave headband to enslave Monkey and link them together – if she dies, he dies. Her journey has now become his. Players must make sure both Monkey and Trip work together as they skillfully navigate through the world and survive against the dangerous enemy obstacles that lie in wait. Monkey will deftly wield his trusty staff weapon to attack and defend against enemies, using a combination of melee attacks, blocks and counters. He will also be able to perform spectacular takedown moves, allowing him to rip an enemy apart piece by piece, take its weapon for his own use or destroy it in one final blow. Heavenly Sword was beautiful too Gonna keep an eye on this one . Also "apparently based on the 400-year old novel Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature—which may explain why the full title of the game is now Enslaved: Odyssey to the West—but it's penciled in for a "fall 2010" window." "when you'll enjoy the Hollywood-caliber one-two punch of cut-scene co-directer Andy Serkis of being Gollum fame and "famed novelist and screenwriter," Alex Garland, responsible for 28 Days Later and The Beach." Omg , look very promising . Can't wait to see more . |

fall 2010 window. unless they've been working on it since heavenly sword, i don't know how good it'll be. they were just bitching that they didn't break even with HS even with 1.5 million copies sold. the premise, story and scenery seem pretty sweet though.

*pulling topic back to daylight*
I just read a preview article about it and it's pretty much sold It got described as "thrilling as God of War, fascinating as Final Fantasy and cinematic as Uncharted". The whole article just sounds like I'll love it. Sooo looking forward to it. Only two months \o/ Of course the trailers just look awesome, too~ |

Apparently, it's got an October 5th release date. Just a couple months away.
The gameplay vids have looked amazing so far. I can definitely see the "one part Uncharted, one part Prince of Persia, one part God of War" recipe. Only thing that bugs me a bit so far is that "blinking light" thing that identifies what ledge or platform to jump to next. I hate it when games practically hold your hand through exploratory segments...I mean, then why have them at all if you're just gonna do it for us? Hopefully it'll be a feature that you can turn off.

So the demo was pretty neat. Gorgeous visuals, fantastic character animations, an awe-inspiring backdrop of tropical/post-apocalyptic NYC.
The gameplay could still use a bit of work though. Battles are a bit clunky, and could benefit from a slight lock-on feature or at least pull back the camera during close melee situations (it's hard to tell where the rest of the enemies are). Also the platforming is pretty bland, and almost impossible to screw up. If you don't know where to go, there's literally a blinking light cue to tell you where the next platform is. Still, the scene where you're running about the outside of the airship while it plummets down into NYC has certainly grabbed my attention. That was just a absolute stunning sequence. May not be a day one purchase for me (especially with all the other awesome games coming out in that same time period), but I'll look into when the price drops.
