1080p Fansubs
Hello,
I'll get my new Full HD display tomorrow and would like to watch some 1080p fansubs on it. I only found a Cashern Sins fansub so far. I would be thankful if you guys would suggest more unlicensed 1080p fansubs. I would like to inaugurate my new display with those. |

Um... are you just looking for any any subbed anime that is at 1080 resolution?
You might try searching for torrents by just typing 1080 as the search term in sites where torrents are listed by filenames. Thats the only way method that comes to mind; I don't know any fansubbers that regularly release in 1080. Though that probably will be the normal resolution rather quite soon.. >.>

I think you can find some/most/all of Makoto Shinkai's movies in HD. If it's in 720p it'll still look amazing. Also, I think Steamboy is in HD.
On the note of HD anime... I've noticed whenever I'm watching anime in HD, the subtitles usually lag behind the video and audio and the longer the video plays for, the worse it gets. Anybody know how I can fix this? Delaying/speeding up the subtitles doesn't help. I have a 2ghz dual core processor, a nvideo geforce 8400, 2gb of RAM, and windows vista. |

Thanks for all the suggestions. It really helped me. About the lag issue. Might your CPU be to weak, wOoOzZy? My current 2,2 GHZ single core CPU is pretty much to weak. I hope this issues solves with the new Phenom X4 4x3GHZ CPU, which arrives tomorrow.

Decoding 1080p is very CPU intensive. Remember that each frame of a 1080p episode is 1920x1080 ~ 2.1 million pixels; a 720p frame is less than half that size (1280x720 ~ 920,000 pixels). I can watch 720p episodes on my 3 GHz Pentium D just fine, but the 1080p videos I've watched generally lag.
Some decoders have better performance than others, and you might also be able to tweak the settings on the player you're using to improve speed at the expense of quality. Also some players can offload the decoding task to the computer's video adapter, but only with the right combination of adapter, drivers, and software. If you want to discuss the technical issues, you should post in the Playback Forum, or browse the forums at AVSForum and doom9.

Ureshii released a couple of episodes of Ghost Hound in 1080p but later decided to discontinue subbing the series altogether. I checked today on their tracker, and those episodes are no longer available. There are also 1080p releases of Casshern Sins, a show I have yet to sample.
