So every "trans-amed" suit then?

Fabulous, the only thing I can say is that the knees would have been better off in a different color.

The old HGUC MK-II alongside the new RG MK-II.

The old one doesn't look too bad from afar, but when I took a closer look I saw how terribad it is.

The old HGUC wins in the apperance due to it's bulk and body proportion wise (it based it design on the PG) while the new RG excel in details.

It all depends on what you want here.

Not really. Not all those Trans-am HGs are cute, right ?

As for the Mk.II HG & RG comparison, I gotta say: for all those intricate parts, why would Bandai make the RG smaller than the HG? Saving more money?

I've been having a rather slow progress lately in my build. Here are some progress pictures of my MG Strike Noir.
Spoiler for :

I'll be continuing the build again tomorrow.

I am looking for a detailed guide which gives me proper individual information about the tools so that I can get them in the local market (getting them online is headache).

If it helps...

Just get Tamiya ones. That's what I have. And don't get that set. Those tools suck. Get the individual Tamiya ones that are a bit expensive.

=)

It's worth it. Trust me. I don't build GunPla that often and I don't show the stuff I have done. I just show the kits when I buy them. =P

But I have to say that having good Tamiya nippers, metal file, and modeler's knife pro.. Really helps me cut out the parts easily and effectively... which in turn reduces the amount of time I spend on finishing the kit, painting it, etc.

My advice is look for a good craft knife, one that feels comforable to hold. Pushing the boat out a little with the knife is advised, as it's the most versatile tool you'll use for modelling.
Got me a X-Acto knife myself, pretty good they are.

The other tools which is stuff like

Sprue cutters
Tweezers
Pliers
Razor and Micro Saws
Abrasives

Personally I think theres no need to really spend the extra on tools like the Tamiya brand when cheaper tools can do the job just as well.
Altho saying that Tamiya masking tape and paints are some of the best you'll get.

Pretty sure if you google "best tools for gunpla" you'll find something.

You mean a tutorial? There are lots on youtube, just search for them. I mean hours and hours...

As for tools; Side cutters(personally I prefer long but narrow blade ones, good for getting into and close to the parts when removing from the runner.)

A hobby knife with a few blades of different shapes.(This is up to you, you may hate or love blades that other people use) Also a sharpening stone. Might as well get the most out of your blades.

Sandpaper. You can go to your local hardware store and get packs of them for a good price I personally prefer 100-1500. (it's nice to use lower grits to remove a lot of access in tight places where a hobby knife may damage the part(s) or you)

Imagination. It's cool to build kits as they were intended, but it's great to personalize it!

Patience... Slow and steady wins the race is true. You must take time if you want a good result.

Useful things to have:

Scribe (good for when you wanna make detail on your gundam, macross etc.... IE: lines of detail such as surface screws seam lines etc...)

Styrene sheets(plaplay whatever you wanna call it) for making scratch built items, parts, weapons, dioramas.

Putty (or epoxy putty) for filling holes or defects in the kit. Can also be used for strengthening, filling gaps in scratch built, making custom parts as well as rounded surfaces.

Airbrush and compressor. It's nice to have the ability to spray your kits and make your own colour combos. It's ok to use spray cans but it's best to have one.

You don't need special brands. Just look around locally, you'll find good tools for a good price.

At least you live in Japan and can go to Yodobashi.. >_>
People outside of Japan need to order online or go to conventions and pay crazy amounts of money.

>_<
