I (finally) submitted my entry, after 4 takes.. I hope it sounds good...

Anyway, to save you some frustration when you're uploading, make sure your file is less than 10 MB and doesn't have spaces in the filename. Apparently some combination of those two factors kept giving me an error page when I tried to upload my entry.

It's not 10 MB because it's long, it's because I encoded it as a 320 kbps mp3.

The actual song is around 4 and a half minutes long and after re-encoding is about 5-6 MB (166 kbps average bit rate).

This trend of encoding in 320kbps mp3s in general seem a bit overboard as most people can't tell the difference between that and a 160kbps one. And frankly, I think for karacomp entries unless you are star quality (but if that's the case, why are you in this karacomp? ) 320kbps is overkill. Not to mention those upload problems and larger download size, and the live broadcast is usually a 128kbps stream.

(mine is 160kbps btw)

Funny. I have no idea about how mine was encoded. Anyway, I didn't use the site to upload. I used the old fashioned way of e-mailing the entry to drive kcl mad. Nah, that wasn't really the intention. I'm just used to it.

You are correct. Reverb is not allowed.

Yes, I have to get around to check the entries, but today is turkey day... Turkey day, I tell you!

What if I record myself in a bathroom or cathedral? Is that kind of reverb allowed?

If you do that, please let me know. I would love to have a picture of someone who would actually record a karaoke song in a cathedral, or a bathroom.

And yes, happy turkey day indeed!

I've recorded in a bathroom before! xD Most of my recordings when I'm home, though, are done in my foyer when nobody is home ^^;

Funny story: I was recording my entry yesterday (with various takes, screwups, etc.) with my bedroom door closed and my mother walked in to ask me something, and she apologized for interrupting my singing!

I asked her to close the door when she left, but she said that she didn't mind hearing my singing. ^_^;;; (I closed it anyway though so that I could get a better recording without having things like telephones ringing, etc. - not that it improved my singing voice any)

heh... i get that from my younger siblings.... they want to sit in the room with me while i sing... although i'm not exactly sure why...

i'm not sure if i'm being a perfectionist or just being realistic, but i can't seem to get anything to sound good.... ^^;

....it's too bad about the guy version of Eternal Snow... i'd really like someone to do that...

I have a few questions.

If two people do a duet together, would that allowed to be submitted into the judged part of the competition? If so, can we also submit solo songs into the judged part too (of different songs)?

Oh, and if we do submit a duet (judged or non-judged), how would we submit that? Would one of the people submit it and then specify it as a duet or something?

My parents kept telling me to shut up when I'd sing with them around, so I tend to just wait until they're gone now ^^;; Plus, the acoustics in my room suck, what with all the new carpeting and furniture, so I prefer taking up the front foyer anyway.
