Can people please stop reminding it again and again that it was not up to the level of clannad because clannad and remade of kanon was done by different studio, kyoto animation.

This is done by JC staff and by their standards. Its already good. It shows that they at least cared for the work. Their previews vn adaptation is arcana and tsukihime and despite fans declaring that tsukihime (me included) that it didn't exist. It still did sell good. JC staff works sells and even if its been labeled as generic anime factory the effort they put on this project can be clearly seen. If you look at their other works.

I know there are faults in the first episode but give it more time before judging it and stop with the comparison even though it will probably be next to impossible seeing that people still feel that it can be done better thanks to kyoani standards of works. BUT currently. I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Animation wasn't KyoAni level, but I thought it was good.

Knowing nothing about the VN but checking it out because of the hype. I found it intriguing, and will watch the next episode, so I'd count it as a successful episode.

Got to like that there are actually 4 guys in this 5 man band instead of just the MC and maybe his sidekick.

wait a minute...Little Busters is a baseball story?I mean really? If its then I'm really disappointed since like all the other series with baseball I watched so far, I doubt they will ever care to explain the rules, but well... I guess thats my fault anyway but its kinda hard for someone like me to know the rules (I mean only Japan and USA plays it I think)

I enjoyed this episode! I love Rin already her voice is just too cute, well done J.C. Staff. I just hoped they put the same effort in other adaptations (like Arcana Famiglia which was a trainwreck)..

That has got to be the most childish thing i've seen this season. The flashback and drama bits were done really well, but the comedy in between was just plain horrible. They just kept piling the generic on and on until i was forced to think "this is stupid". I haven't played the game, but i'll keep following this. It definitely doesn't live up to the hype so far though.

I was pretty satisfied with the first episode.
Spoiler for Comparison to the Game:

I'm a fan of JC and of KyoAni, but I'd rather have what I'd expect from JC than what I wouldn't from KyoAni. Endless 8 anyone?

I like it. I like this episode more than the pilot episode of the other 2 Key series I've seen.
Some of the jokes are force but at least I laughed watching it. I find the part on finding girls to take part believable, unlike some other Key show.

Anime-only watcher here (I have some passing familiarity with Little Busters! but I never played the VN).

This anime episode made me laugh more than an anime episode has done in a long, long time. Great sense of humor and comedic timing. I usually don't go for slapstick comedy, but I just love how it was executed here.

And Kyousuke... man, what an awesome character, and a great voice to boot! His little quips and eccentricities really add a lot of spice to the comedy. I loved the bit where he kept acting like his friends' quotes were all epic, no matter how inane the quotes were.

I love Kyousuke's leadership style, when it comes to leading a small group of friends. He clearly knows how to have a good time, and he does things with a real charisma and pizazz. He's thankfully one case of a "student celebrity" where I can really get why he's a student celebrity.

I'm not sure how much I'll like the show once it makes the inevitable transition to heavier drama, but its comedic beginnings has me hooked.

The one thing I'm unsure of is Riki's voice. I get that they're probably aiming for him to seem like a relatively feminine guy to nicely contrast him with the rather manly male friends he has, but I think they might be overdoing it. I mean, if I didn't know any better I'd think he was a reverse trap.

As for the visuals, they're good enough. For now, at least. They did the job, and their brightly colorful nature really suits the overall mood and tone of this first episode.

I guess I just don't get the humour here, or something.

Not to say that the show was not enjoyable... far from it, as even though I don't get the jokes, I like the character interaction. But dunno, compared to the other heavy hitters this season who did, Little Busters didn't live up to my expectations.

Then again, all other Key adaptations didn't really wow me at first either, so I guess I'll just wait and see. Hocchan as MC throws me off a lot though, as I'm half expecting an uguu any time now...

It's just me, (please can somebody confirm it) or the OP has a little bit of lag, at the scenes of the heroines's presentation (the same ones of the previous PVs).

I don't know, maybe are just my codecs.

After watching the first episode not knowing anything about it, I came out a little confused. I'm not exactly sure what the direction of the show is or what they are hoping to achieve. I saw that it was made by Key, which I have not seen for the longest of times, but the setting so far does not feel like Key.

But, oh wow, the animation so far has been below standard. The backgrounds were very bland, and the motion was very still. It felt very low quality. Also, the music was very underwhelming as well. I do hope that things get better, but the first episode impression is not too great. It is a Key production, and for that alone, I will give it a shot.

Kyousuke's totally Yuri Nakamura + Yuzuru Otonashi. His speech patterns are very amusing, and so is the musclebound idiot. To me, they carried the comedy in this episode. Decent introductory episode. I wonder if the girl Riki met on the rooftop would be their sixth member.

Hopefully, people would stop pointing out that KyoAni should have adapted this series. It's getting to repetitive that it is vomit-inducing. J.C. has handled this first episode decently, and you should blame the guys behind this project's funding for giving it budget that is "lower than expected".

By the way, anime-only watcher here. Please avoid giving LN spoilers.

I can understand people forgetting this, but Clannad and Kanon started very comedy-esque too. I even once labeled Kanon's first few episodes as its "Comedy Central" section.

Key anime tend to be remembered mostly for their high drama moments, but that doesn't change the fact that they're also chock-full of pretty standard anime-esque comedy. What makes LB! stand a cut above is Kyousuke, imo.

I also like how there's several good male friends in this show. Makes it seem a bit more realistic to me than just one guy and his wingman befriending numerous girls.

I don't know, I have a weird feel right now with this chapter.

I'm a VN player, and I really like to read more "anime-only-viewers" opinions, I really like to know what are thinking people who don't know anything about this game, or Key games even.

In a certain way, it's obvious that JC is trying to stay the closest with the original source, but I have the doubt that if that way was the better way to introduce LB now in its anime format.

How can I describe it?... it feels like it was really but REALLY focused to GAME fans, and that they're assuming many things or taking for granted that fans are actually aware of the humour type, mission issues, fighting stuffs, plot direction, etc, etc. But, what happens with new spectators? Have they reached to understand everything that happened in this chapter?

I think you are taking for granted how important that is. I mean, when you first started playing the game, did you know about the "humour type, mission issues, fighting stuffs, plot direction"? (Well, don't really answer with a spoiler, just in case.) I am assuming you didn't and you just ran with it for a while to see what happened next. And eventually, after having played through a bunch of the game, you came to understand what it was about and things that were a bit confusing at first made more sense. And now, knowing where it all goes, it's meaningful to you. The same thing can happen to anime-only viewers.

Don't be worried if anime-only viewers don't like instantly fall head-over-heels in love with the anime. Give them time. Most people will stick it out because it's Key.

(I am growing a bit tired these days of audiences who get all upset when they watch the first episode of something and it's like not every single one of their questions is perfectly answered and they're slightly confused... and they act like that's a problem. This is a 26-episode anime, and may even have multiple seasons. Things will make sense eventually. Relax! )

While I'm sure the girls will take center stage shortly, I'd like to give a shout out to the male cast, Horie included. They really gave off a great vibe as a unit without making Rin seem too out of place. Masato in particular is already the most likeable KEY buttmonkey I've ever seen; the dude sells like Ric Flair on espresso.

Ep1 serves as an establishing shot, overall. Too soon to make much of a judgement of the project itself.

For reference, I've played a single route of Little Busters! (Komari) so I know what her deal is, but beyond that I haven't had the chance to check out the rest of the story, so there should still be plenty of reveals for me.

Well a lot of the humor in the first episode was with the guys being so stupid (Mostly Masato.) that it is meant to be funny. Call it, "A lot of horsing around." if you will. To address your issue, it is tough without crashing into a rule about spoilers... Just by looking at the OP though, you can at least tell that half the characters aren't introduced. So just to re-iterate others, it's just the first episode. So concerns about the theme(s) of Little Busters, even the type of gags aren't all going to be clear in the first episode. How that pans out will rely on what parts of the source they decide to adapt. I think that's the part of the show that's a mystery to all of us, and what will make or break the show. As far as the production values, like the animation quality, that probably won't change too much, but will be the most discussed thing the first episode.

I don't think anyone is ruling the show a cannot watch because of the animation quality, soanyone disappointed by the first episode should watch at least a few episodes to understand more about the meat of the story and get to know the personality of the un-yet introduced characters before dropping.

Uhh it's getting very hard to make any type of reply to address any posts with concerns about the first episode without them getting deleted or banned. I'll probably stay out of this thread, because it seems to be for anime only viewers.

It's difficult to respond without spoiler things but I will try... xD

Yeah, when I played the game I didn't know what I'd find, but the game itself, I mean by its VN format like every game of this kind, allows you to advance at your own pace, and undestanding and digesting all of those very unique concepts that this VN has, at your own pace and, of course, the VN it's more complete.
Anime pace it's different, is imposed on you, you need to go understanding all, at an only pace. And that's the basis of my questions, like I previously said. Was this the best way (pace) to introduce LB to new viewers?...
Well... only time will tell us.

Don't worry, I'm really relaxed though just a little curious. I don't give a damn if new fans get hooked to the plot instantly, due to I know, and I'm convinced that this is a really good story.
