I dunno man, Watch Naruto you'll probably find the answer in that show.

Yeah that's what I was getting at. Of course there are exception to everything.

Episode 1 pulled in a 4.1% rating, which is higher than any episode that Star Driver or Sengoku Basara (besides the first episode) managed to reach when they were running.

Re-birth of Nichigo? I hope so.

Wow, they really beefed up that fight at the church but I'm hardly complaining, if I'm gonna watch a shonen series I might as well watch one with a ton of pretty fights in it.
And pffff to everyone who is just now caving in to read the manga, I read the first chapter was it was announced, decided I'd wait for the anime instead, and then immediately caved in after the first episode and read the first 20 or so chapters.

It's well deserved. The original manga tells a compelling story, and the anime takes it to 24 minutes of awesome blue fire demon bleeding exorcist shooting madness.

However, most anime do well in their premiere episode, then slowly stagger off outside of the top 10 rated list. Part of it is waning interest in the show as time passes on... but some of the fault can be accredited to the animators for getting slightly lazy. I just hope Blue Exorcist doesn't fall into the category where the studio tries to operate on as small a budget as possible while still selling enough Rin merchandise to make a large profit. Nah... I really want more of what I've seen in the first two episodes. Even your usual shonen cliches are very appealing (this show isn't the first show to frame exorcists and demons in combat) when the presentation is so fantastic.

My favorite character died...
Badass priest looked like the guy to pimp slap the main guy every time he has one of those overly long self monologues.

Oh well at least Mephistopheles looks cool.

Just because there's a "main character who's hated/disliked by everyone at first because he's a demon, but eventually rises to greatness" theme, doesn't mean it's similar to Naruto specifically. Plenty of anime have done that, are doing it, and have BEEN doing it long before Naruto was even conceived. =_=

To be fair, he did have a huge death flag.

Something about the idea of exorcists always appeals to me... that being said, really love the manga although I stopped in hopes of an anime happening. Lucky me.

These first two episodes were extremely good and yes, the BGM is AMAZING. Here's hoping they don't go downhill. If there's one thing I get worried about, it's the quality drop after a couple of episodes.

C'mon A-1 Pictures, don't disappoint!

Agreed, and as you said the way it's being handled is elevating the whole thing including the necessary cliches. Fortunately with the director/creator of Darker Than Black and Wolf's Rain directing this I'm pretty hopeful and don't think this will be victim of a 1-2-ep wonder, and then budget freefall/fizzle out. Even just the superb way that he and the composer chose to handle the Shiro and sword drawing scene as one complete moment keeping that powerful mood and that strikingly heart-wrenching piano/string piece going the entire time with great animation (and Rin sticking with the powerful gritting the teeth crying rather than screaming at the end) was so much powerful than these shows usually get outside of the special ones so, while I've only read the first two books, that seems like a pretty good sign they can do it again if the story is ambitious enough and continue to hit the emotional highs of the best of this genre and the weightiness of the special ones like say a FMA etc..

God the soundtrack's awesome I can't wait for the full OST, this guy's quickly becoming one of my new favorites with this and his so far equally epic Gundam Unicorn music.

There really wasn't much to say about this episode other than good job A1. It was overall another solid episode despite one change that didn't sit well with me. Everything else that was changed/added worked well with the episode. I love what seems to be Mephisto's theme from ep 2's epilogue get used again. Definitely looking out for the ost.

Yeah, it was the same. I'm not sure why they did it either but I can let it go considering how well they've handled everything else so far.

episode 3 is still solid for my taste even if they change some bit. Maybe for time constraint issue though the first chapter was extended into 2 episodes.

Spoiler for 3:

Still nice gun moves Yukio and next episode would be Shiemi

How can the rest of the students not notice his ears? I even replayed parts of the episode, sometimes he looks like he has normal ears other times he doesn't, both in view of other students. I am not talking times when he goes into battle mode I mean all the other times.
