Insight: China pays high price to spare state firm from bankruptcy

Quote:
(Reuters) - The Chinese official was adamant the city of Weifang would keep its rayon factory open, noting that local authorities had just stepped in to help the plant's owner repay $60 million in commercial paper.
1. Write a book about capitalism
2. Name it "Big Corp Always Wins"
3. ?????
4. PROFIT!

Seriously though, with the potential rise of food prices, I wonder what are the rural China citizens going to eat.

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

Well, hope no one is dumb enough to do this:

Dad Puts Toddler in Washing Machine and Turns it On

There's no way to know what the parents were thinking. Maybe they were trying to scare their kid into good behavior. Maybe they were just goofing around. Maybe they thought it would be funny -- there's a large sign hanging above the machines, saying "Junior Wash: $2.95." Whatever it was, it could have easily ended in tragedy.
http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/wor...183500809.html

Looking at the video. This is a simple case of:

"Hurr durr. Look! My kid is in the washing machine. Durrrrrr".

They're lucky that the kid doesn't get killed. And to be honest, even I've had some similar "hurr durr" thoughts pertaining to my cat, where I'd think: "Oh, what would it be like for my cat to be in the washer or even the microwave." Of course, no way in hell am I gonna do that to my cat.

In the case of this incident... it's a freakin' kid!

I remember a similar incident where firemen in Manchester did this for shits and giggles whilst on duty. As you can imagine, they were clearly proffesionals of the highest caliber...

Gordan Cooper will be heading back to space tomorrow (if all goes as planned) on the SpaceX flight. James Doohan (Scotty) will be on the same flight with 300 or so others as ashes. (This time they expect the ashes to stay up for a year)

The flight itself wil be the first commercial flight to deliver supplies to the ISS and the first American resupply flight since the Space Shuttles retired.

Nearly 8,000 pounds of marijuana were found bobbing off the coast of Dana Point, Calif. yesterday. California’s Coast Guard, U.S. Border Patrol and local authorities retrieved around 160 bales of weed 15 miles outside Orange County, which sits on the southern outskirts of Los Angeles. Totaling more than 7,263 pounds, the stash’s value was estimated at $3.6 million.

After for so long, I knew this is going to become news. It'll be also easy to say it's economic sabotage, although personally I don't think the PLA are ten feet tall and their equipment could screw up as much as their would-be opponents.

But the troublesome part is, it's not impossible to dismiss the idea of a Chinese-made IC chip implanted in an NSA-designed phone that also doubles as an eavesdropping component.

So, what makes the UK and Canada to sabotage the US defense?

Funny. What I was taught is :

1. When in doubt, off with his head.

2. Always share a foxhole with someone braver AND smarter than you, in the mess of war, those who sit idle die faster, or live in agony.

3. I can't contest the last one. Personal experience.

Egypt's Presidential Front-Runner is a 9/11 "Truther"

"Egyptian presidential candidate Abdel-Moneim Abolfotoh, formerly of the Muslim
Brotherhood and the current front-runner in the polls, is a 9/11 “truther.”

“It was too big an operation,” he said in an interview with Eric Trager. “They [the
United States] didn’t bring this crime before the U.S. justice system until now. Why?
Because it’s part of a conspiracy.”"
