Yeah I agree, she really outdid herself with the new LE's music, what an epic and majestic soundtrack, and that's even with the first season's OST being no slouch in the least. These two LE's have two of my favorite OSTs ever.

Well I watched the end of LE: Fam, so here are my thoughts (I guess I'll spoiler protect them for anyone who's watching it later than the norm

Here are some of the series negatives. Writing - this shows writing is just mediocre most of the time, flat out bad at others. The "bad guys" are also seriously uninteresting in the end. Lucsinia and Lilliana motivations make no sense at all and are out right stupid at times. Alueda was actually not half bad but we never learn enough about him to really understand what he's doing in this show. Soursh should have stayed dead. He's a total slacker but I think he might just be popular in Japan from that last scene we see him in (he was missing Vasant? Since when did those two even like each other??). IMO it came off as a totally bishi for the fangirls moment and it seemed to indicate to me that he's alive because he's popular in Japan with the ladies

Oh well, we N. American fangirls can be just as wonky at times and that type of thinking did save Dio for this series

As for Kayvan, I said I didn't think he was dead and it seems I was correct. No body and they are almost never dead. Personally I think Kayvan being alive makes more sense than Soursh because even to the end Soursh couldn't decided what side he was on

. Still, I'm not sure I saw Kayvan in this last episode. Could someone remind me what scene(s) we saw him in? I think Sadri may be one of the big exceptions here (as well as with Delphine from the first series). Which means if they do want a second season and could get one green lit (I'm not really sure they can or will do it - I've not seen anything to indicate the show did that well in Japan) Alueda might return from the grave. Back to Sadri for a moment. Of all of the "baddies" he had to be the one I thought was the most interesting and not just because he was Fam's Grandfather. Sadri seem to have an attempted backstory to him and he came off as a real person at times. Maybe not someone I'd want to know in real life but someone I could see existing in the real world. It's too bad he decided to go down with his ship and personally I think the handling of the last two episodes and him was a mess. Sadri didn't seem to think he was going to end that way two episodes ago but suddenly that was the plan? What the ???? What was this fr*cking plan anyway?

Spoiler for Overall Thoughts and random stuff:

So what was my overall thoughts on the show? It could have been a lot better. It wasn't at total waste of time because I really loved the Dio parts and still think he and Fam should get together

Even if that didn't happen I could do with a 13 (maybe more) season LE with Dio as the lead. I don't know but one idea I would have for another season would be to have the characters try and find out more about the past? I think they missed the boat not doing a "find the historical library" plot and while Luscinia knew a lot he didn't share where he found it all out at or even if he really knew everything he should have on the subject of the past. They also haven't explored the world all that well either.

I just realized something about Luscinia's history lesson. Luscinia basically admitted that Ades's story about the Prester people coming back was a big lie and there was a lot more to what happened. I still don't think Luscinia really knew everything about what happened though. More like he knew more fact that were based in reality but that he may not have known all the back story to how it all went down.

Anyway, i just remembered another issue I wanted to comment on. The Grand Exile rejuvenating Glacias stuff that's been discussed in the thread and whether there was more than one Grand Exile. I don't think that's what happened at the end did anything to Glacias's weather. It simply turned Spring there after the events (the real Russia isn't snowed in 24/7). As to another Grand Exile having been used before. Whether is was really a "Grand Exile" or maybe the ship the original Guild people came in, I don't know but I do think there were two similar ships that crashed. The wing we had seen throughout the show is simply not in the right place to be off of the ship we see in this one, IMO. Also, as someone pointed out, something caused a big hole in the Grand Lake. That would make sense if it was another ship that did that (as well the set up of the Ades capital seems to be off of a similar type of ship and that could be exactly what it is - off of another crashed ship).

Last thought - the picture the Sky Pirate kids drew on the ground toward the middle of the episode. No one had mentioned it but after looking at it I think that was Dio they had Fam and Gissy pulling along, and not Millia. I'm not sure anyone thought it might be Millia other than me (both Dio and Millia do have similar hair so I wasn't sure who it was) but after pausing the picture that looks like Dio's goggles, not Millia's

Can someone please clarify for me, what exactly was Luscinia's plan with the grand exile? I got the gist of it but the episode didn't really state what it was and now I'm confused as to what he was trying to achieve all this time

Luscinia's plan was scaring the shit out of everybody, destroy all military, than call himself master of all Earth under puppet Sara to send everybody back in space. Then he saw his Grand Exile was failing apart and said screw it. He let Fam take Sara away before the ship crashed, hoping that others will be able to keep the "peace". He wanted to send everybody in space because that's what the plan 600 years ago and it was never done. Considering the Grand Exile wasn't finished, he probably was totally wrong on what happened and lots of other things...

Although, I have the feeling that ending was supposed to be symbolic of old traditions dying to leave place for new ones.

Anyways, I give this "second season" a 7/10, if only because the ship battles and sound track were still fantastic. Everything else was pretty meh.

The problem with this being the plan is that Sadri never reacts through out the series like they're going on a suicide mission. He was talking of retiring just the episode before. Now, I could believe this might have been one of several outcomes Luscinia and Co had thought might happen and that would explain the why he had been given orders in case this scenario came to pass. However, it's really more contingency plot by the show writers than a real plan, which I think is part of what is irking some of us. This really donesn't read like a plan. To me I'd almost say the plan was a cross between the one azarhal posted and a earlier one floated by other posters that Luscinia was setting himself up to be a fall guy for an elaborate plan which left Sara in charge of the world under one rule. An I'm still not sure there wasn't even more versions of this plan. What I think really happened is the show writers had a few plans and could never quite work out a single one they wanted to follow

It wouldn't be the first TV show to have that happen on (I know of a few U.S. live action shows were it wasn't just the writers but powerful lead actors and/or the powers that be who were funding the show who also got involved in deciding this type of stuff).

There's no need to over think this though, so lets just stick to LE: Fam's writing staff. I feel one issue with the shows writing is that at this point it seems the writers weren't all on the same page with what they wanted to do with this show and where they were going. With Fam I always wondered if they might have been debating if she was a Exile Key or just a normal human and the latter won out (both ideas have good merits so I'm not really upset by that one). With Luscinia's plan to bring world peace, I'm not too happy because it wasn't clear what that plan was and we were never allowed to care enough about the characters to be invested in why they were going down this path. LystAP, you're idea is a good one going from Sadri's point of view and I think it's probably where the writers landed in the end with Luscinia motivations. I just think that Luscinia motivations changed wildly over the course of the series mattering on who held the upper hand in the writing team at the time. One thing that really sticks out here is why did Lilliana sign on and that's something you're theory has a hard time covering, for good reasons. Lilliana was a late comer to this party. Had one of my earlier theories come true and Lilliana had been involved with Luscinia before the series started with the "plan" then she would make better sense. Instead the series seemed to show us that she was converted on the spot after seeing her fathers dead body and first threatening to kill Luscinia. What?! It makes no sense at all, IMO. Toss in that earlier in the show they hinted Farahnaz had been working on this plan with them, and it is even more confusing what the plan was suppose to be originally. While it is probable that the Grand Exile plan was a side plan the former Augusta was cooking up before she decided to go with diplomacy, it might also be she was planning on this being a back up plan if that diplomacy didn't work, as well. Either way, if the plan was suppose to be "we scare the hell out of everyone and then die" it makes Farahnaz seems like she had a death wish. Remember, she was the key so she'd have had to have been on board the Grand Exile to do the activation to begin with. The more I think about this the less I think Farahnaz would have thought most suppositions of what this plan might have been were workable, let alone a good idea. I swear, I don't know what Luscinia really knew or thought about what was going on but if he really knew it all then this plan makes so little sense as to come off as a "we made the plan up as we went" type of plan and they show writers put too many statements in the show to make that a workable scenario

Anyway, I don't think there really was a plan on the writers side that was totally worked out which lead to this debacal with the story telling.

Anyway, I'd like to talk more, at some point, about the overall feeling I have about this plot being a pre-ordained/fate type of plot. I won't be doing it here because I'm still trying to straighten up my thoughts on it. However, I'll do a quick tease - I think this is the reason, from early on, that some of us kept getting the Gundam SEED Destiny vibe. I've always felt that the "bad guys are really right and will win in the end" was the original ending planned for GSD before the behind the scenes trouble hit on that show (i.e. Morasawa lost control on the writing and to this day who knows who actually wrote the ending of that series). I know with Gundam SEED Morasawa and Fukuda were on record as saying they borrowed ideas from Korean Soap Operas so I have to wonder if the "bad guys are really right and will win in the end" was also borrowed from some place - particularly now that Last Exile Fam has used it as well. While LE:Fam could have seen GSD and thought "wow, good idea lets go and do that again and go all the way to the end with it" I actually don't think that's what happened - more likely is both sets of writers are pulling from a mutual sources and that's what is making want know more about the use of this type of plot and where it comes from.

To be even fairer, asking video viewers to be also following a manga, let alone one that isn't finished or even up to the point in it where the incident in question has yet to happen, is rather unfair to the viewers

. We'd all better hope that they actually finish the Hourglass manga, as well. If the show didn't do that well in Japan, then the manga could be pulled without notice due to lack of interest and then we'll never find out how it happened

I'm on chapter 7 so far. One would thought it will be a transition from the 1st series to Last Exile: Fam, but there some awkward romance confirmation in it

The last episode felt a lot better watching the second time. I guess I don't have anything else to say for now.

BTW, did all the Ades ships get dismantled or just the ones from the first fleet?

I assume it's either all or most of them, since the fat nobleman that was dangling from one of the claudia engines is probably not part of the first fleet.

I'm not sure what the production team is thinking here (hopeful they'll get more episodes?) but dragging out Claus in a wheelchair for the last five minutes feels like a set up for another season verse the closure of this one (really, how did he end up like that? I know it probably does have to do with the manga but I can't imagine the Japanese viewers being any more happy with this than the fans at this forum are. Still, as flat as I found this ending to be, I'm not sure it was really any worse than Last Exiles ending. One of the original series problems was the end of it and at least this one wasn't quite as confusing as LE's was (I remember trying to figure out if anyone was really alive or just what was going on the last five minutes of that one when I first saw it on G4 (I managed to see it but not the complete series at that time, for the record, which didn't help at all) ). Spoiler for Top moments and one thing that I really didn't like: The top moments for me in this episode: The battles were very nice and we saw more of Alvis than the early spoilers made me think we'd see of her. I thought the picture the Sky Pirate kids drew was funny. The ending with Dio and the race and Fam saying what I think many viewers were thinking (I know I was thinking it) to Luscinia - "Aren't you going to take responsibility for this like a man?" (paraphrase). Really, he was such a wuss and this plan sucked dnky balls In is the main thing that brought down the series for me - the entire plot line was way to predestined /fate oriented. From the beginning Luscuina's plan was always going to happen and work out for him and that's just nuts. I hate plotlines like this, where we're suppose to root for one side but the other is really the right one and they win even if they all end up dead . I think the problem I have specifically with LE Fam is that nothing really happens in the end. There was a journey but other than Fam finding out who her Grandfather was, and a whole lot of destruction, nothing really changed. It would have happened anyway no matter how it all came about. Spoiler for more Positives: The positives of this series, for me, where the new characters and seeing many of the old ones. It was nice to see Earth and my gut feeling is this really is some sort of back door set up to try and get a third season, probably with more Claus, Lavie, Dio and Fam and Gissy and maybe even Dyan tossed in (I think if they did another season they'd put Millia more in the back ground - btw, it does look like she and Orang are being set up as a couple). I didn't hate Fam at all but if they did do another season and brought her back I think she'd work much better with Claus or Dio as a lead and not as a lead herself. Spoiler for The Grand Exile: The Grand Exile failed because they were trying to make everyone happy (aka. bring everyone left behind to the a new world after the other Exiles left.) It probably would have been more successful if they just focused on saving a few like the Exiles, but they had to save everyone and added more wings and stuff on it till it couldn't fly. They compensated that weight by overfeeding the engines. The propulsion system was only so powerful because it had to carry all those wings, but all that power didn't transfer well to the Grand Exile's structural integrity. In the end, they couldn't find or create enough of the right material to hold the Exile together when it flew, so to save everyone they probably decided to stay and help accelerate Earth's renewal. The lesson I think is being taught here is that you can't make everyone happy, but as long as you try, it's what counts. Thoughts?
