couldn't wait for the subs, so i got the raws to watch... CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING AN ANIME!!! (hehe, Kuroyan's reaction to Briouche if anyone remembers)
About the voice acting.. you guys are right.. I thought it might not be too far off from expectations, but everyone's voice are not like expected.... Kuroyan, Kawachi (sounds rattish... like the Heckel guy from MONSTER), the samurai guy, and Azuma. Needs a little bit of getting used to. Anyway Tsukino doesn't look cute yet... needs to take of that hairband soon!! |

Episode 1. ^^ I think it's a good starting episode. It really shows how much they love bread and how passionate they are in making them. It kinda makes me want to learn how to make bread too myself. His grandpa is so funny with the nato and miso. It's like he's going to war with bread. Spoiler for screenshots ep 1:

Overall, the first anime episode wasn't bad. But I don't think it would have blown me away if I'd been watching it uninitiated.
The problem is that the first two episodes are going to follow chapter 1 - which is double the length of a normal chapter. So the first half set the scene while the second hooked you in a bit more. Hopefully by episode two there'll be some faithful viewers! Still not too pleased with Azuma's voice, though I AM glad that the snippet in the preview is just him introducing himself in an unusually loud, brash manner. This episode was fine, because the Seiyuu suited chibi-Azuma fine. Not so such about teen-Azuma. All I can think about is Tetsunosuke from Peacemaker Kurogane... I wasn't sure about Kawachi's voice, though...a little TOO stereotypical for my tastes. But still, it has a lot of promise and I think once the reactions start coming in fully, we'll have a really great anime, based on an even better manga. -BonBon |

I just snuck a peak at the first 5 minutes of EP 1 and it was like "Woh, they just blew away 1-2 whole chapters of manga in like 2 minutes!! o_0 If the rest of the anime goes like this, we're going to cook through manga chapters like nothing. (no pun intended) Yeash.
