I consider that particular change as "contemporarizing".

That's not so much politics as to stop Tony from being too old. They had to use the most up to date recent conflict or Tony would be an old man and not an energetic horny boy in man's skin.

They tried to change Captain America into being a Vietnam Veteran once. Eventually they gave up giving him new wars to enter and just have him being frozen in ice after WW2.

changing the setting from Vietnam era to modern conflict with Islamic fundamentalist isn't the same thing as they're not using the same characters.

It's not like Tony went up against band of terrorists all with Vietnamese names or anything.

Not comparable with Ra's Al Ghul and Mandarin changes.

He was always frozen after WW2. They just changed how long he was frozen. Pretty sure the vietnam thing was always some second Captain America (who, if I recall, eventually went nuts from the serum and became "Super Patriot").

Don't worry, that long RDJ staring scene is part of the trailer

They are just teasing now. The long stare is just an admission that yes, there isn't much new footage and yes, it was deliberate.

Ironman 3, unlike John Carter, does not NEED any more hype. So it is free to annoy us like this knows we are going to go see it anyway. They aren't going to spoil any more than they needed to.

Part of me thinks they're just making fun of how expensive airing an ad on 'The Big Game' is. If they played that whole extended trailer at 'The Big Game' ( they only aired a 30 seconds spot ), that stare alone would've been 3.8 million.

But you know what?

If Tony can hold his foot up with the leg armor part on, that must be the lighter model of suit.

Frankly it's in character for a protaganist like Stark to troll his fan audience like this.

Poor fucking John Carter.

Don't forget that the independent armour pieces can fly now. So I suspect he might have reverse engineered anti-gravity from the aliens he defeated in The Avengers, and thus making it possible to wear the pieces like clothing.

The Avengers really gave Tony lots of options in going Superscience.

He was being paid more than RDJ. Anyone who has any sense would know that was too much for a support cast member. Though depending on who told the story, one explanation was that his agent was the one who pulled the plug unexpectedly.

Then he should've fired his agent? It's not like he's a child and the agent is his parent.

As I say, the story is not confirmed. We will never know what really happened.

In Ironman Extremis, the parts can fly simply by using their own repulsors, no need for anti gravity.

But this requires Tony to have mind control interface with the parts, which is what we should be questioning instead of how the parts fly.

Did Tony get a dose of Extremis or did he just implant himself with some mind control chips?

The Extremis creator in the comics is present in this film. So we will see if he left anything for Stark to play with.

As for mind interface, you see him wearing a special headgear in the trailer.
