That's one of those barely avoided plot holes. Racer's main magic might be slowing others down... but he also has a bunch of remote control motorcycles he can summon. He can walk out of easy hearing range, take a motorcycle to get Jellal, tie the coffin to a couple motorcycles, drive most of the way back, take the coffin off the motorcycles, and walk the last of the way. All of that would still be quicker than one of the others walking for it. Alternatively, the others know about his powers, and it's just easier to get on and off his motorcycle outside the cave.

So in other words, he still has a means of getting from point a to point b faster than the others. It's just not the means people were lead to believe at first.

There's no confirmation that he's dead though. That's just viewers jumping the gun.

Honestly, it almost made no sense that he had 'no' speed magic of any kind. While his magic did slow down their sense of speed, there were tons of crazy projectile magic trying to shoot him ( it was presumably slowed down too ) and he was jumping around up, down, left, right like crazy.

He should logically have 'some' speed magic complementing his main magic.

Doesn't he get bored? I mean, if his enemies are slowed down that much, it would take Gray a few minutes to cast an ice lance...

About Lyon, He might used Magic to cushion his body....Gray had no magical power 'Cuz he fought and used ST-PLUGs (even Erza back in the Lullaby's Arc she almost had no magical power by using ST-PLUGs ) unlike Lyon he fought only.

Unless the series decides to really get dakr and start showing a shower of blood and body parts I don't think you can call it jumping the gun. If he's dead there is nothing the series is going to be willing to do to prove it other than never show him again.

Yeah it did seem pretty stupid. Feels like an effort to be creative and clever that ended up just looking dumb in reality. Like it was too easy to just give him speed magic. From the explanation he slowed down the person's sense of time. But then it's weird since to the character their magic should have been moving at super speeds. Unless he's really slowing down every single thing inside the area.

At least the bikes explain him getting around quickly. Though think he should have renamed himself 'stop watch' or something .

SUPER FREEZE ARROW!!! So cool! I love the soundtrack here .
The quality was a bit bad but the episode was ok. There are 2 really good moments, when the 2 good music appears: Lyon attacking Racer with Grey who is driving, and the "super freeze arrow!".
They should use more Fairy Tail's epic music .

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I wonder why they got rid of Racer's knife. On one hand it makes sense to remove a stabbing implement given what they've changed in the past, while on the other hand they just gave him an icicle to stab with. Is stabbing with an icicle less violent or something? Also, it makes Racer look a bit less prepared than simply having a knife on him for when he wants to get serious.

He wore sunglasses, adding a knife makes him too gangsta for FT...but yeah, who knows.
