Active Camouflage in action (or is it?.....)

(Obviously it is not some highly-secretive camouflage suit) It is a research project of one of the university in Japan (the one that starts with "T" and has countless characters battling to get into :) )

is the school Toho University?
Are they using a green screen? Could you tell us how? This is almost like invisibility! EDIT: Ohh, i found the webpage though it doesnt explain very good on how this technique is used, or rather i didnt quite get the concept of it though my guess was wrong. Still cool though. They are from a project webpage on University of Tokyo's site
 . Of course, they explained how they did it in the webpage. But if I show it now it will just ruin the fun  .BBC had reported this back in July I think.

Seen something like this before but never videos like this. Don't think I'll trust these just yet, the second one seems like bs, the skeleton never moves and the skull is oriented to the right while the guy's face is clearly oriented to the left. Maybe it's just a pic of a skeleton behind him or something but it's certainly not his skeleton.

reminds me of my physics class during the quantum mechanics section where we took 3 solid opaque objects and were able to shine light through them to make them transparent. It was very cool. I dont believe this is real however, probably a reflected image directed back towards the individual or something like that.

I honestly don't think this is real. The more I got to looking at it the more it looked like some really good overlay green screen work. Seriously, that's what it looked like.
Now my ship on the other hand has a very excellent, working, state of the art cloaking device that I nabbed off a couple of drunken klingons at a bar on....oh, right. I can't tell you about that.  LOL. J/K.But back on a more serious note, you can chalk me up as being one of the sceptical majority. There's too many high quality things you can do with green screen these days that can easily recreate what you're seeing there. Heck, digital editing allows someone to be completely removed from a picture with no visible evidence that they even existed. So for now I'm going to call this a farse until proven otherwise. |

I dont want to look at that site now, but I guess its some kind of special reflecting material - light combination.
You know like everything white will reflect black light (ultra viollett)... I really think that must be it... send out light on a frequency human eye cant see it and let it hit on a material that will alter the frequency into the visual spectrum (its green/blue here). Sounds good... but is that physicaly possible... to alter lights wavelenght by sending it through something? Not sure...

Well, its obviously a projection. You can see it clearly when they are in front of that TV, there is text in the background and when they move around it streches around their arms/chest. Also in that scene of the street things apear bigger and "higher" on the mans raincoat than in real.

Those where invented 2years ago.. I saw thos video at CNN tech september 2002.
Old news tho... and no they are not projectiles, the costume was made chimicaly. I dont remmember of the material name but it work exactly like the X-Ray and Heat-Ray but mixed together. |

This was posted in a Ghost in the Shell thread here a little while ago. It's only somewhat impressive.
What they show you looks pretty good. What they aren't showing you, kinda defeats the purpose of optical comoflage. Notice the camera we are looking through doesn't move. And no, that's not that guy's skeleton, nor is it supposed to be. |

well basically, i heard this a while ago right, and it sais that the coats were full of optical wires and wired all the way round the coat thus creating a near see through experience
dont knwo about the books or football though =.= |
