Is the New Physics Here? Atom Smashers Get an Antimatter Surprise
"The world's largest atom smasher, designed as a portal to a new view of
physics, has produced its first peek at the unexpected: bits of matter that don't mirror the behavior of their antimatter counterparts. The discovery, if confirmed, could rewrite the known laws of particle physics and help explain why our universe is made mostly of matter and not antimatter." Busted Russian Mars probe could go to Moon instead
"Lost Russian probe Phobos-Grunt could give up its trek to Mars and instead
head to the Moon if communication isn't established in the next few days. Space agency Roscosmos has given engineers until 21 November to contact the spacecraft, which is somewhere in orbit around Earth, because a flight to the Red Planet's moon Phobos will not be possible after that date. However, Russian space expert Igor Listov told state news agency RIA Novosti that if boffins got in touch with the ship after that it would still have enough fuel to make a trip to Earth's moon instead." Popsci - 2011 Invention Awards: A Magic Wand For Printing
While the tech isn't exactly new (it's been in development for a decade), it has now been perfected up to a point where a commercial version is expected to be hitting the market next year. The ability to print anywhere on any surface, good times

Mitosis gets them nowhere, what they really need is a process like meiosis that is able to "repair" (make it more robust) DNA. This might be possible if there were a female and a male clone (the direct clones would be garbage, but they might live long enough to actually be used for meiotic reproduction).

Lockheed Martin To Demo Air Force Reusable Booster System
"Lockheed Martin has been selected by the U.S. Air Force for a contract award to
support the Reusable Booster System (RBS) Flight and Ground Experiments program. The value of the first task order is $2 million, with a contract ordering value of up to $250 million over the five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract period. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center are developing the RBS as the next generation launch vehicle that will significantly improve the affordability, operability, and responsiveness of future spacelift capabilities over current expendable launchers." In the future, a person may be able to watch a computer screen and have his or her brain patterns modified to improve physical or mental performance. Researchers say an innovative learning method that uses decoded functional magnetic resonance imaging could modify brain activities to help people recuperate from an accident or disease, learn a new language or even fly a plane.
see: http://medicalxpress.com/news/2011-1...ort-video.html if this becomes reality then future humans will not go to school anymore, im friggin jealous of future people |

Happy of the development of this technology. But, the news of this angers me for only one reason: Spoiler:
Alas, you have an oil/gas industry not interested in such things. Moving forward, I just hope the general fossil fuel industry looks more into this - and develop it further.
