Addendum regarding Fate/Zero:
Please remember that, although Fate/Zero is chronologically the prequel of Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, this series might be discovered by those who did not watch the previous series or read the Visual Novel.
Therefore, although events are likely to be connected with the story regarding the 5th Holy Grail War, please do not post any F/SN spoiler in any F/Z thread.

personally i think it's quite OK and serve more than just fanservice <3

Hmm... the episode was interesting in the sense of how it helped develop Tokiomi waaay further (and that part was really interesting), but they had to dumb down Ryuunosuke to almost incredible levels. Aw well. Ryuunosuke seems so fragile that apparently the only thing stopping Assassin from killing him is that Archer has to be the winner or something. (quite the dumb policy if they could just get rid of him, but aw well).

Good God when will Tokiomi gets out of the mansion? Even his daughter had ran all over Fuyuki! He needs Morning Rescue !

It's a good episode and even it's supposed to be filler episode it doesn't feel like one. Everytime Uryuu appears around Rin I always have a panic attack. Rin made great scary loli faces.

There was only the issue of place and timing here that I really don't get it. Rin was supposed to be out of Fuyuki but she still go to school in the Fuyuki, right? At first I was confused when did this takes place but seeing Uryuu wearing the magic bracelet clearly puts it during the war. I was a bit thrown off as she was going to school as normal.

Missing a school would be inelegant that would not fit the name of Tohsaka

The battles takes place only at night (thus explains FSN's weird name). The daytime is accepted as safe, since no magus would expose himself in broad daylight.

and it make us know tokiomi-kariya-aoi situasion better =v=;

and idk maybe because school is on the day and a lot of people is there ...

I think it did a better job at spelling out the inherent contradiction that Kariya is pursuing. I won't say what it is as while you may be able to figure it out at this point, it's mentioned explicitly later.

And this was a nice episode, but I'm actually sad after it - because next episode is arguably the peak of the entire series.

so true and it's indeed true. From Kariya's view she is saving Aoi because he thought it's was just a force marriage but heck they have been living for years. If it's true but maybe that's only at the beginning. Since they were living together for a long time and even had 2 daughters already. She also ended up loving her or maybe even before that she already secretly likes her.

And poor little Kariya. It's so fun to see him suffer

And also it's a nice anime original but maybe not an anime original because in the beginning I think it's already been address that there will be new material when the novel was animated and it's most likely the author is connected to it.

And lastly there is no further reason than just being a Rin centered episode is enough for me to give it a 10/10 full of HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG! moments

While the it had a very filler like nature to it, it did provide some more isnight into character motivations (such as Kariya"s) which is always good.

One thing though...seriously!?! Rin taking on Uryuu with such flare. Something a bit off bout that, yet it was awesome none the less.

I liked the light novel part of this better. It showed how Rin was completely out of her league in the things she was facing up against. She wasn't able to save anyone precisely because she was just a child who didn't know the true terrors of the world. Here it just seems a little too unrealistic, and stretching it out for an entire episode gave it a filler-ish feel even though it's not.

Spoiler for Act 8 Part 4:

"The further she walked, the more sparse people became. Is this really the Fuyuki city she’s so used to? Rin felt a faint chill creeping up her entire body.

Actually, Fuyuki city had already imposed a curfew. Strange murders and abductions have been happening recently and last night even a series of explosions, made for terrorism purposes, occurred at Shinto and the harbor district. The police was urging citizens to go out less often at night, and the smart ones have all obeyed this command.

But even if there were no curfews, there shouldn’t be many citizens who still liked to wonder at night. Nowadays something unwholesome was lurking in the Shinto night; human instincts would have already detected this.

“– Aaa, as I thought.”

The red police light lit up further down the street and Rin hid in the shadow of a building in fright. The patrolling police car was driving slowly, searching for any citizen who was walking alone at night. There was no way the police would leave her alone if they see her, and if that happens she wouldn’t be able to go save Kotone.

Rin finally relaxed as she watched the light move slowly away –

Clack.

– Rin swallowed the scream she almost yelled out.

That sound just then came from the depth of the alleyway by the house she was hiding next to, and it’s probably a stray cat sifting through the rubbish and knocked over some cans. But it’s hard to determine if someone was there.

Rin drew a sharp breath when she looked down on the magecraft compass in her hands.

Unmoving, as if frozen in place, the needle pointed straight towards the direction of the sound.

Something was there; something that emanated unnatural prana was there.

“…”

Isn’t this the result you're waiting anxiously for?

You've already gotten some response from your investigation. Isn't that a sign of a good start? Rin planned to go through all suspicious spots in Shinto and check Kotone’s presence one by one. Here, the first place she checked, already has something.

Come now, let's step into the inside of the alley and check what's there.

“No!”

Maybe there are some clues about Kotone right there. Or maybe, Kotone herself is there.

“Absolutely not!”

There's no reason to hesitate. If not, there would be no meaning coming this far. You are not a coward. You would not do things such as abandoning your friend as well. That's because you are one of the Tōsaka with a long and distinguished history. So you have to prove that you're brave and can become your great father's successor.

“No no no absolutely not no no no no noooooo…!”

A wet sound could be heard. Splash, splash, Something lurking at the deep inside the alley was breathing, as if sneering her, creeping towards her.

Rin finally realized that this journey of exploration, aimed to recover her best friend, was definitely not as easy to complete as she thought.

Kotone’s figure wasn’t in the depth of the darkness.

Even if she was in there, she wouldn’t be the same Kotone as before.

If she was thinking of finding Kotone in the darkness of Shinto, from the start, Rin should have aimed to find Kotone's ▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ instead.
