Kira Yamato is like Dale Earnhardt jr. No matter how crappy he is, he would still be the fan's favorite.

Either way, its good for Gundam. I expect even Athrun to get near his status when all the SE comes out. Maybe once they show Shinn=lackey he would shot up the ranks too?

Hey come on, just with kira's set in stone character a lot fo good fanfic can be written in which he does amazing things while staying in character. That his "character" is not doing some things that you'd like to see in the show does not mean his "character" is crappy. He is a nice hero really.

Anyway, that happened WAYYY faster than I imagined. Even Edward Elric had 3 months((IIRC)) of gloat period before he was dethroned by Kira.

Considering Kira = new-age Amuro + new-age character revamp, I'd argue Haruhi, being the one-track looking into the future lass she is, would vote someone new rather than old.

You really thought Kyon would be able to hold him back for a long period?....even a great character like Edward was not able to keep the #1 spot for more then 3 months, And there is no freaking way that Kyon is gone do better then the great Edward Elric!
