Yeah, it's a mystery(detective) story that deals with failed love case. It sounded absurd, but if biblia can make mystery out of old books interesting, why not failed love too . That's why I wanted to ask for recommendation on how good the mystery aspect is, and how good the characterization is.

i don't have a habit of reading Kanji or Katakana on english forum, i generally browse through the website of publisher to see the book cover so i was shocked.

@tsunade: like Cosmic said, it's the novel version of VVV anime, think of gundam, there is a little bit more about character exploration and kind of shiny illustration but it essentially the same thing.

Me neither. I do the same thing, but you know that cover's been on the upcoming works page since July.

The illustration strangely reminds me of the guy that does Zashiki Warashi.

Practically any anime or visual novel that's of decent popularity or more has a novelization based on source material (otoh, manga's novelizations will be side/extra stories). Nothing surprising. As to "essentially the same thing" part, it's not really true. Such novelizations many a times make small (approved) changes or fill things out to make the story more coherent based on the (assigned) writer's interpretation. This is the case for other forms of media as well, such as drama CDs.

Pain me to admit, i just checked the website a few days ago and i don't even remember the time before that, i might even forget it before .
@larethian : well, that was my impression about vol1 of Valvrave, not LN adaptions from other media in generals(i don't read that type much) so it true that might opinion is biased, but yea i should rephrase it into that the core story is the same in stead of essentially the same things, sorry for the confusion.

No, those are the weekly sales rankings at Tsutaya (a nationwide chain of bookstores in Japan). While they often match the Oricon's rankings (although not all lights novels in the Tsutaya rankings will be able to rank) there isn't much a point to look at them IMO since we're getting the data from Oricon just a few days after. It's not like Osakaya's rankings (Osakaya is another chain of bookstores) where we get a top 500 of the weekly sales, so it at least allow us to see how the light novels that can't sell enough to show up in Oricon's weekly rankings are doing comparatively.

And yes, the new Date a Live volume was just released last week.
