Ghost in the Shell Live Action Going Strong

Credits : Sankaku / Variety

Quote:
Masamune Shirow’s legendary cyberpunk franchise Ghost in the Shell has had its Hollywood adaptation in the works for some time now, with the latest news being that Dreamworks has assigned Laeta Kalogridis as lead writer.

Seasoned writer Kalogridis is taking over from Jamie Moss, who was originally set to adapt the popular Japanese franchise to a more western market. She has written scripts for a number of Hollywood films, and is also involved with the Hollywood adaptation of Battle Angel Alita, apparently with few disasters to her credit (although she did help write a Tomb Raider movie). Also involved in this project are Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul of Seaside Entertainment. Avi Arad, formerly of Marvel, has been involved with many of Marvel’s TV and movie adaptations, including such titles as Spider Man and The Hulk.

Dreamworks has planned this adaptation as a “Live Action 3D”, presumably implying a heavy CG component, just as with the anime and even manga versions.

I'm not sure whether this has been announced, but a live-action J-drama of Peacemaker KUROGANE will start broadcasting on January 2010
The title is set as Shinsengumi PEACE MAKER

This is one of the few titles of which the LA is infinitely "prettier" than its manga counterpart.

Trigun Movie to be released April 2010

Japanese official website
www.trigun-movie.com/

Plot summary (english)

Quote:
After much waiting and slowly becoming more and more concrete, the Trigun movie received its official site, confirming it's existence. That only led to another bout of waiting, brought to an end now: the Trigun movie, officially titled Trigun: Badlands Rumble, will be released in Japan on April 4th, 2010. Now you only have to wait until it's released. Luckily for us, the trailer is now being streamed on the official site as well -- no longer do you have to look for it on NicoNico.
Aparently it's an original story, which may just end up feeling like another ep from the first half of the series when it was light hearted and fun, so may go and check this out come springtime.

Besides, it's Vash.
Need I say more?

Yeah Tae now looks quite pretty. Unlike her manga counterpart, I really can't count how many times I wished for her to die horribly when I was reading the manga. I swear that she was brain damaged, look her face when

Also, I'm not sure if anyone here noted it or not, but there will be a most epic live action being directed by, none other than, James Cameron, the one who brought us the beautiful and awesome special effects of Avatar. And this manga is, quite possibly, the best manga I have, and will ever read. This manga, is known as Battle Angel Alita. I have extremely high hopes for this live action adaptation, and I am quite willing to devote my life to building a Gundam to annihilate James Cameron if he screws this up.

Holy crap! First Peacemaker, now RK? This is fascinating - though frankly, I would much rather have had the Jinchu arc animated.

Exactly what I was thinking. Wonder how much of the manga the movie will cover?

Well, if we're lucky the live action RK movie is being used to test the waters for how much love there still is for RK, and they'll do an animated Jinchu arc if the movie does well. Hopefully.
