There's no 'best routes' You'll need to go through all routes (apart from Ryou) in order to unlock the 'after story' in which there's only one route to uncover the true and final ending.

Well, as for the best routes thing, I heard someone (( Sushi? )) in this forum saying before playing 'girl C's route' before 'girl B' will make you confused on some storyline things or something like that, kinda like Tsukihime's Arc first, then Ciel thing. I know it doesn't really affect anything in the long run, but still...

The 90 hours guide is a guide for players to collect all CG, music and contents within the shortest time. Some variations of the same stories which are not the requirement will be skipped, though.

The 'playing girl C's route before girl B' thing is said by me. It is not about who is better or not, but playing in the recommended order will give you more background information on side characters in that character's route. For example, Nagisa Tomoyo makes an appearance in Nagisa route as a side character. If you've played Tomoyo route before Nagisa route, you'll know what kind of person is Tomoyo is and will waste less time wonder on her actions. Also playing the Fuko route before the Nagisa route will produce an extra event, but that's the only case it is.

Personally, I don't think the ordering matters too much, as long as Nagisa's route is done last (or repeated one more time before heading onto After Story using the AFTER　STORYを始める前に Nagisa route). It saves time to do the similar routes together though (Kyou and Kappei's route, Tomoyo and Misae-san's route, etc.)

Also, the route flowchart listed by Yuzu-san seems to follow a bad→good scenario trend. Kyou's route being the blandest, while Kotomi and Fuuko's route being the most powerful ones. It's probably a good idea to save the best ones for last, less dissappointment that way.

I got mine off kfc, and I'm still translating it(unless you can read Chinese?)

The order is important. Not only it saves time ,but sometimes playing in different orders will affact the reader's point of view when playing.(see spoiler)

For example, when playing the Tomoyo route, don't you wonder how she managed to be so popular in her route with her attitude? Sure she's got charm, but it's actually Minase who taught her that. Playing the Minase route allows you to get more insight of that. Plus, if you ignore Minase route and go straight for Tomoyo route, you'll miss a scene in which you get to collect a light.

And Tomoyo route is a must if you want to go for the Yukine route, as these routes gives two opposite insight of what is meant by delinquent. Going for Yukine route before Tomoyo would make you dislike Tomoyo slightly when you see her beat up delinquents.

And Ryou and Kyou route, although a pairing route, going for Ryou route FIRST will save you a lot of time. Ryou in Kyou's route confessed to you her selfishness, which you don't get to see in her route. And if you saw Ryou's selfishness first in Kyou route you'll find a hard time re-adjusting your heart to like Ryou in her route.

Kappei route must not be done before Ryou/Kyou route, as this will render Ryou just a passer by if you don't know Ryou enough.

Fuko route, must be follow by Koumura, or else you'll miss a scene in Nagisa route AND the after story.

Here's my recommended order:
Minase --> Tomoyo --> Yukine --> Ryou --> Kyou --> Kappei --> Mei Sunohara --> Ichinose --> Fuko --> Koumura --> Nagisa AND After Story

Spoiler for reason:

Kappei route is quite independent, but since his route is so close to Ryou/Kyou's route, they can be run paralle. Doing a save on the 20th and loading later will allow you to jump straight to the start of Kappei route from Ryou/Kyou route, while the memory of the previous few days are fresh in your brain so you don't need to repeat what you done the past 7 days.

Mei Sunohara's route can actually be done anytime, but since it has a lot of Sunohara(male) involved, it's best done at a later stage when you know Sunohara better. Some people put it after Yukine, as they can be run parallel like Ryou/Kyou's route. (save/load on 20th)

Some people would put Ichinose after Nagisa since Nagisa is involved in her route and the Nagisa route is the more touching than Nagisa route alone. However, Ichinose will be a complete stranger in Nagisa route if you do so. Since you've met Nagisa a few times before the Ichinose route, Nagisa is still a passer by, but at least not a complete stranger. Your choice. Ichinose route is actually quite independent like Mei Sunohara route.

Also how good a scenario is only personal view. My favourite route, after the Nagisa route, is the Kyou route. However, KEY's work are all so superb that even you don't like it, you won't be disappointed. (Tomoyo route for me, I don't like that Tomoyo, though I still enjoyed playing through her route)

I can answer that for you.

BS-i initially had the rights to broadcast the show in HD 16:9 goodness. However, TBS is the parent company of BS-i and were allocated the premiere. Since TBS don't broadcast in 16:9, KyoAni had to crop the anime to fit TBS specs. I'm not sure if they screen HD either.

However, with that being said, two other channels will also be broadcasting CLANNAD in between the wait from TBS and BS-i. MBS will screen CLANNAD on 14th October at 1:55am and CBC will screen on the 18th October at 3;20am (first broadcast time - regular = 2:50am).

The thing is, MBS may screen a downscaled SD broadcast in 16:9 - if Shana II is of any indication. We shall wait to find out.

There are a total of 7 versions of songs you can record into Sunohara's tape in the beginning of the story! Can you get it all?

There are two versions of songs Sunohara will sing on the 15th. That depends weather you mess up his tape or not.


Complete After Story once and return to Tomoyo route. Sunohara's face will deform at some point when beaten!


In Fuko's route, do various pranks to get the title Fuko Master and eventually Fuko Ninja and you'll have Fuko appearing like a ninja when you reply Tomoyo route

With 8 DVDs scheduled to be released and with 3 episodes on each volume, that equates to 24 episodes.
