It seems to be from the July 2009 issue, but, thank you for pointing that out! I have been noticing how the rank of the characters differ in the magazines, and I'm wondering if they have both Sheryl and Ranka in the top 10 in other mags

The voting results seem sort of interesting - that Macross Frontier characters seem to be fairly popular even though the show's been over for almost a year. Then again, the small sample sizes make the results less useful than if there were a lot more voters.

That really shouldn't be that surprising given the way Gundam characters tend to become less popular after their shows are over. The main exceptions to this have been the Mobile Suit Gundam characters who are buoyed by nostalgia, and the Gundam Seed characters. All others are destined to fall by the wayside. I'm pretty sure that even Sheryl will fall into this category eventually; although probably not for another couple of years because of the movies.

Frontier's nearly been over for a year and she was on the polls for a long time before it ended. With 2 movies to come out over the next year or two she could easily be on the list for 2-3 years straight.

Could it work with SaiMoe as well? With the KyoAni hate campaign being somewhat successful this year, Macross Frontier characters could sneak in a big win at least at the group level. Among the MF characters in contention, I think Sheryl has the best chance to pull through.

(Why did Klan have to face off against ToraDora's Minori--also my favorite, BTW--so early in the tournament, aargh!)

Whenever I hear Minori speak, I am reminded of Ayu from Kanon for some odd reason. Maybe its that over-the-top character, and I kept on waiting for Minori to slip out a 'uguuu'
