I am going to add Unicorn to my list of favorites. Aside from being one of the most beautiful OVAs I've seen, it has, and I dare say, the best soundtrack in a Gundam series.

And its quite gritty, always a bonus. I like!

I'll just go with an overall impression of the show. If I don't feel connected to the characters and atmosphere isn't to my liking then good animation and battles won't prevail in my final decision.

Anyway, my top three would be:

1. 08th MS team
2. Gundam Seed
3. Gundam Wing

If there was a best soundtrack vote, I would probably go for Seed Destiny.

Gundam 00 for now, attributed it for getting me into Gundam seriously although I started with Seed back in 06. Had a certain feeling to it that made me love it a lot and I guess I also love the mecha designs. Will probably add more to the list once I watch more UC series.

Couldn't agree more. Either the animation or the soundtrack by themselves would be enough to put Unicorn on my favourites.

Anyway, haven't seen everything so I can't judge much, but my top five [in no particular order]:

With 0079 getting the honourary spot because it's the classic.

this is really difficult for me... i dont think i can really pick a favorite because in my opinion every gundam series has one thing that it is doing extremely well all the time and thats very different for each show.
in gundam seed and wing i like the MS designs for example but im no huge fan of the story or most characters.
in OO i like the meaning behind the story and the uniqueness of the MS design.

but right now i might go with unicorn. i like the story so far and it has the UC vibe going for it^^

I just watched stardust memory and 08th Ms team.. i was like shouting and screaming with excitement.. the UC timeline is very impressive..

yeah, GSEED had this vibe.

in all honesty, I watch anime's with good character designs.. at first i had no interest in GUNDAM because their male lead stars, as I've noticed before, were very unattractive and I thought there were no love stories involved (yeah.. typical)

1.) but SEED got my attention first because the character design were really lovely (bishojo men yeah, but who cares.. watch Sainkoku Monogatari and you'll see gayer guys) 2.) then the story was very intriguing with the Naturals vs. Coordinators plot 3.) and a very likable main character <3 !!

then started to watch UC, GWING (GWING was actually the first gundam series I watched but didn't understand any of it, who was Heero siding on?? but re watched it and finally understood though) and sooner appreciated a more darker tone to GUNDAM and now I find myself very interested in Mecha animes..

one thing I admire about GUNDAM though is the taste for twisted romances..
main guy accidentally kills love interest(MSG 0079), main guy's lover is a crazy girl( Zeta, Seed Destiny), main guy falls for the sister of his rival (GWING, GSEED, 08th MS TEAM), main guy steals fiance of arch rival (GSEED), main guy gets ditched by girlfriend for her ex-lover who happens to be main guy's arch rival( stardust memory), main guy falls for enemy nation's princess( Unicorn, F91, GSEED)

will still be watching the infamous Victory Gundam and Turn A .. hoping to see one of those twisted romances i so admire about Gundam.. and of course the action packed robot animation

I grew up watching Wing as my first ever introduction to this franchise.

Next thing I know I watching Seed. and Destiny.

After that I went back to the roots watching practically anything related to Gundam.

Then 00 appears. Alongside Unicorn and the 00 movie.

I'm not some hardcore Gundam franchise fan, I just love mecha in general. And in able to appreciate both the visual and storytelling point of the anime (Hey, I was able to watch through Turn A and Victory). So in my humble opinion, even though I'm not a diehard fan.

My list goes

8th MS team. (perfect in every way)
Stardust. (damn that was awesome)
Wing. (very very bad but holds a special place in me)
00 (Mecha porn at it's finest, Porn as is I picture myself rating this higher than Frontier no joking.)
All the rest even including the original are a toss up.

I would had like unicorn but since I didn't/haven't read the novels I practically have no clue wtf is happening. Or how or why etc....

Probably Zeta Gundam, but I haven't watched all the series yet. I have the highest expectations for Turn A Gundam, mainly because I love the visual aesthetics of the mobile suits, characters, and environments. I'm really looking forward to that series and hopefully it will meet my expectations.
