Sometimes I feel even the best of fics have some sort of blatant wish fulfillment oozing out like pus. I don't know why but the over-the-topness of such things are usually to the point that they don't seem to have a place in the story or even have a reason to be there other than to be there. Not even a contrived forced reason.

Well, for example, J.K Rowling admitted that Hermione and Harry should had got together, but she ended up with Ron. It's like children - they live, grow up and will change the course of the story, even if it's against your wish.

But of course, to make a character alive, it would take talent. A lot of them.

Because, let face it, reality (in IS-verse) for guys is really sad?

It is really boring to write about guys in IS-verse. They are not involved in the "cool stuff". Though guys being Engineers/Makers of IS-frame are interesting aspect which nobody has touch on yet.

For Girls, things aren't so bad (you can always write about their tournament).

Taking the Author's word for it:

The pragmatic method to fight against IS is actually targeting IS pilot.....before they actually deploy their IS because if they do, you are F-ed (not the enjoyable kind)

That is pretty dirty method of dealing with things and commonly associated with Villains in Mecha Anime.

It is practical yes, but boring and difficult to write.

So.... my personal opinion on how to give a male character believable reason to be there? Make him an engineer involved in development of IS....

For comical effect: Make him your typical usual office worker...
Either:
1.complain about the work condition and infeasibility in technology demanded by his boss

2.Pretend to work

3.Brilliant but lazy. Probably work in the company because they have really good Coffee machine (aka Wally...just Wally)

On retrospective: I should really work the story towards that....since it had not been done.

There are people who wanted to change the world, there are people who just wanted a life. (Summary is deliberate to make it sounds like both are mutually exclusive.....)

Reusing old story: OCs are in ISA to test out new variation technology (Duet System, Tear Drop). They are there for quite sometime due to long development process, however, involvement with Canon character is not very intimate.

They are more Sengoku than Takatora (more involved in development than actual fight).

The Cool stuff (Vantier) come much later.....

Agex: I really want Vandam to achieve showing where men stands in this post-IS world. You see male soldiers all over the base while I also made a point to increase the women presence in the base. Maximilian is the engineer. There are also male commanders featuring prominently: Captain Hall, "Tiger of Jakarta" Colonel Ibrahim, Gou Kajie and the Sanders Military Service. Veterans like Engchek, Nguyen and Pritz make cameos.

Its too early for male antagonists though for my work. They are just hiding in plain sight.

Just thinking: During Industrial until Pre-Modern Era, they gradually increased the size of the weapon (for example, the Karl Gerat). But since the introduction of modern technologies, the weapon is getting smaller and smaller.

So in which era does IS belong to? It has only been introduced for less than 2 decades.

Gundam actually; the Tiger of ______ has been used in 3 Gundam shows but I do believe the title was based on the original tiger of Malaya as you've said.

I have both trains running; VM Arms and the Assault Package are technically large Armor Stratos addons with a predictably short lifespan. At the same time, hyperkinetic weapon come in various sizes. The Vandam I is also more compact than the original Vandam.

I know that this is a shot in the dark but no BG info on Squall is available is there? Was looking up the name 'Meusel' and found out that it's a Germanic name.

The name Meusel is a nickname type of surname derived from the German word maus, which means mouse, and was given to a person thought to bear some resemblance to the timid animal.

We certainly saw that part when she was faced against Tabane.
