Eh, if Nanoha can save Fate because "her eyes are sad" then Thoma's "Well, they kinda saved my life and sorta tried to help me" suffices as enough of a reason for me.

Or maybe since Force has bucked a few trends already they won't be any.

What about when you don't compare it to a previous season? Is there a reason then?

?

Well this being Nanoha means I asssume reoccurring staples to well.. reoccur

so I expect a pseudo villain to be knocked out by a something like a Starlight Breaker at the end of the 2nd half.

I won't slit my wrist and complain on the internet if that doesn't happen, though

"Well, they kinda saved my life and sorta tried to help me" is still a reason even then.

That they have to do bad things due to the virus, not inherent evil.

For a little kid, sure. Teenager, maybe not.

A teenager would stop to think about this a little bit more than he has. An intelligent one, anyway.

There's two sides to the thinking things through coin. You are looking at the "The Hucks are killers who knowingly continue to kill to survive" side. There is also the "I personally know what it's like to be treated with the kill or die choice" side.

If it's suppossed that the Huckebein are good-incomprehended people then it makes sense for Tohma considering joining them don't you think?

Two sides, sure, but Touma's really leaning toward only one of them when there are all kinds of pros and cons to this decision.

Well, at least that's true, Tohma is now with the good guys and is learning about the Huckebeins crimes but somehow he seems to be pretty emphatic with them. His reaction upon seeing Curren's message was less of "WAH! The leader of the Huckebein!" and more like "hey look, The Huckebein send a letter to me, how nice of their part".

If we go by his Dark Piece in the PSP game we can attest that Tohma is at least curious about joining the Hucks.

My point was that you keep focusing on the Hucks being killers, but tend to ignore that Thoma has an entirely different perspective on the Hucks. He suffers from the same infection as them, and came perilously close to killing his own friends and dieing because of this infection. The Hucks were the first to stretch out a hand offering help. That opens one up to looking at a group of known killers in an entirely different light.

Where most people see them as a mercenary group of killers who use their infection as a source of power for their business, Thoma sees a family of like-minded victims who banded together in the face of death, even if he doesn't agree with what they do (which is an important detail we should not forget: This is the guy who chose death over becoming a killer).

You may disagree with Thoma's point of view. Heck, I do as well to a degree, but it is an entirely understandable one.

He wasn't even with them for a day, and he was confined to one room and tied to a chair. What did he see exactly that would make him think that? He even called them a bunch of murderers when he was there, before getting possessed by the Tome.

He's just good natured. Last I checked that's supposed to be an admirable thing.

Oh no, I have problems with the character trait of a fictional trait. I'm so mean.

The conversation between him and Fortis showed enough for such a state of mind to form, really.

Again, Thoma does not agree with what they do, but he knows why they do what they do. From personal experience, he knows what kind of agony it is and how it can drive people to do crazy stuff. And that is enough motivation for him to try and save them. Heck, even though you said "don't compare it to other seasons" it's arguably the best motivation to save people in Nanoha thus far.
