Wait, now that I think about it, Kamogawa or any other trainers never appear to be much useful during the matches either
Well Kamogawa actually trains Ippo, it's because of the training and advices that Ippo keeps winning.

Yes, that's the thing. We never really see how other trainers train their boxers either. We only see them doing their job at the ring. Most of the time they either merely cheer the fighters on, or give advices that "I'm sure he already knows that by himself."

In reality trainers are important (during the game) in all sports, but I guess it's just hard to portray them as such in a boxing manga, compare to a soccer or basketball manga.

Well, we kinda see some kind of training, but it's not as strict and hands on as Kamogawa. Well except for Miata's dad.

Miguel is a sham, he can find a good boxer but he's failed to train the two that we've seen. Miguel is more like a talent agent than a couch/trainer.

Yeah, we've seen him with three different boxers and he failed with all three of them. I don't know why Morikawa keeps dragging him out there to be repeatedly humiliated. Maybe he's there to make Kamogawa look good. Not necessarily in a "Stupid American Can't Do What Mighty Japanese Can" way, but in a contemporaries/rivals way.

Probably it's more of Miguel can't beat Kamogawa then and until now. Since Kamogawa has more heart, power and chin in his prime than any of the boxers in HNI will ever have, though Ippo as a main character will be his successor.

Though still those love taps Ippo gave are not that convincing....Or probably like in the Shimakiburo o r whaterever the short fish guy's name is....In that match where he landed a few soft punches in his head, then out came the "ULTIMATE PUNCH" which staggered the fish dude.

Possible Ippo has perfected the ULTIMATE PUNCH.

Ho ho ho... Woli always talks about studying and learning but Miguel should have studied Ippo a little more... then he should have known about what the Monkey is going to meet and would have told him that what he is up to do isn't a such good idea.

Spoiler for 892:

Blood is coming.

Just imagining a Dempsey Roll on a person who isn't use to getting hit sends shivers up my spine.

And since he is in the corner, as genious as he may be he can not back off enough to pull out a counter like Vorg or Ryuhei did.

He'll attempt some serious swaying like we saw earlier, but given how that requires some use of his legs, I bet we'll see glancing blows, mixed in with 'I cannot dodge, so I must block', plus of course Ippo's trademark block-breaking punches.

Woli is cheap. He's like one of those bosses in a video game who spams this super cheap move all the time that you can't avoid no matter how hard you try. Think Eddy Gordo in Tekken. Cheapest. Character. Ever.

Christie and Gordo have the same moves btw. Though Eddy has lower HP and Christie as lesser damage.

But Enough Tekken talk!

I wanna see a (Kamogawa)TEKKEN-DEMPSY-ROLL in Woli's ribs.

The aching ribs will be a factor I tell you on Woli's counter attempt.
