The Christmas special is coming soon. Matt Smith's Doctor will be leaving us.

However the question is how? It is the Time of the Doctor.

We've started to see picture. Lots of enemies in this one. We have a wooden Cyberman for some reason as well as the metal ones. Silence, Weeping Angles, Soltarans, and of course, the Daleks.

There is even a picture of what looks like the Doctor, dressed sort of Wizard-like (Harry Porter style wizard) with a Dalek eyestock as a wand.

Has anyone read any of the short stories for each of the 11 doctors? Neil Gaiman wrote a story for 11 called Nothing O'Clock and its a lot of fun. He created a pretty scary monster in that macrabe Gaiman does best. I definitely recommend it.

I kinda wish he'd saved that for TV, actually.

Have you read it? I did like the story somewhat more than his Cyberman one, but the Doctor's Wife is still tops.

Anyways yeah sure I'd have love to see it as an episode but I actually think it might have been scarier in print then it would have been filmed. That being said I wonder if down the line the monsters Gaiman created couldn't be used again. Even though it seems like the solution to stop them was permanent, never say never with Who.

Yeah, I'd say unless they were born/created and permanently destroyed in the same continuous scene, there's always room to come back.

So basically, throw every enemy he's fought as the 11th at him?

Over time, probably yes. Sort of like when the Pandorica opened. Might even be related (The Alliance against the Doctor and the Silence).

Yes, I definitely think it's better than Nightmare in Silver. But I'd rank The Doctor's Wife as probably the best ep of the Smith era.

And it is done, the new Doctor is here.
There is always this time of sadness when the old Doctor disappear, followed almost immediately by a period of joy for the new Doctor.

I am sad to see Matt go but the episode itself was way too convoluted in my opinion. Ah well Matt's run was mostly a very good one but here is too No. 12.

Yeah, this episode and the last episode with Amy were just... disappointing, I feel. For as phenomenal as Matt's years have been, overall, two of the most critical episodes in those years were let downs, as far as I'm concerned. Fortunately, other critical episodes (specifically, the Pandorica episodes and the Silence/Moon episodes) were incredibly good.

Most disappointing about last night, I think, was the lack of Alex Kingston. Pretty critical character in Matt's time...

But, the "Saying Farewell to Matt Smith" special was awesome. So many nice little stories.

River Song and Tasha Lem are suspiciously similar though.

Anyway nice sendoff for Mat Smith, I feel this episode had a stronger emotional pay off than the day of the doctor.

As far as Amy's last episode, it's far easier if you're like me and haven't seen them yet. Her conclusion at the end of season 6, I felt, was perfect, and if you then skip ahead to the Christmas episode where Clara comes in the series still makes perfect sense. There's one reference to her from Amy's episodes that you'd miss, but it's Doctor Who. He says and references plenty of stuff that you can easily not have seen if you haven't been watching from the beginning.

Once again Moffat reveals nothing.

Well, I liked Capaldi in those 5 seconds. You immediately felt a different swagger.
