@those who also have the ikea detolf:
i heard some people seal the gaps at the front to keep dust out, and i hear its pretty effective. any idea what's good to use? preferably something that doesn't leave marks and residue behind like typical tape does.
just that dust seems to get into mine pretty easily.

Hey,

I'm a anime fan for like 5 years now and ill like to buy some figures to instead of only wallscrolls and manga.

The problem is im really confused about:
-What the prices are and if it changes from old anime and new anime.
-Wich sites are reliable.
-How a good figure should look like an wich are crap
-Also is it better to purcase in yen or dollars (or euro: i live in the netherlands)?

Some time ago i saw this lucy from elfen lied figure. And maby that some of you know if its buyable, cause im a big elfen lied fan:
Spoiler for save space:

Figures i also like are:
Vampire knight
Kanon 2006
Air
Clannad
Chrno crusade
Shakugan no shana
True tears
more of elfen lied

Weer zo'n gekke Hollander

Ok, well try to stay away from european sites, or at least compare prices with international shops
remember: if € figure + € shipping = €47+ then you MUST add 19% BTW on items bought outside EU

sometimes it may be cheaper to buy EU because of those added costs (most of the time not though )

Shops I consider good are
Hobby Link Japan (Japan)
Archonia (Belgium ->but sometimes overprice items beyond reason)

Prices vary on size/material/quality/manufacturer
Old anime usually has "Nostalgic"AKA "Working people with lotsa monies" fanbase
instead of kids with a monthly allowance
so one could argue items of such series are more expensive than they should be

Tip is to get a creditcard for international shopping, no hassle with different currency or added exchangefees
as for euro/dollar/yen: compare prices, use a currency converter (don't forget shipping costs)

Collecting figures in Japan isnt a bad hobby, but oversea it becomes more like a luxury thing now. Japan always have some sort sales and such, in canada I am always paying the retail price and extra 10-20% for shipping... so all the PVC comes in range from 65-100. I need a second job
btw I heard price for lelouche's figma figure is going up since the company did not anunce any reissue so i got one today hehe

It depends quite a lot on the materials (PVC, Resin, etc.) and size. Larger scale figures (1/6-1/7 scale) can run from aroung $30-40US to well over $100US. Smaller scale "trading", "nendoroid" or "gashapon" figures can be as inexpensive as $3-5US each. Also, once they go out of production (and most figures are very limited production), popular ones can skyrocket to several times their original price.

Well, Hobbylink Japan is pretty well known and sells only legitimate stuff. Hobbyfan is another. I'm sure there are more, but those are two I am familiar with. You can also sometime find decent buys on figures on eBay, although you have to be careful, as eBay is also flooded with cheap knock offs and copies from China, etc.

Sorry to say, I think that figure is already sold out (at least, I don't see anywhere that still has it for sale). Popular figures like that are often sold out during pre-order.

Check the links for the two on-line retailers above. Even if you don't buy from them, they should list just about anything that is currently available or announced for pre-order.
