Lol at the nine tails rejection of the merge. The 9tails has not had any screen time in awhile. At least nartuo should go to his inner sanctum and talk with him. Id like to hear more from it as it said some interesting things last time, it seems to be very wise.

As for the "pain's" it seems to me they are all zombies being controlled like puppets through those rods. And their summons are the same way as noted by their rinnegan eyes and metal piercings. Makes me wonder of Pain is even in konaha or sitting in that tower they showed in the memory scene where corpses are brought.

Haha! Danzou hiding in his bunker. This definitely felt like the most "filler" of the episodes so far.

Shikamaru also easily killed one a couple episodes ago to protect his baby mama. Name characters like Sakura and Shika are always going to look better than no name ANBU or side guys like Ibiki. You knew they were going to fail when scar guy got all cocky. They were out classed.

Although I liked Ibiki's summons, his treatment of the dead Pain was kinda weird, didn't Inoichi tell him that it was a corpse?
Also, don't you need a contract for every summon? Does the rinnegan (knowledge/understanding of all jutsus) allow Pain to skip the pacts and summon anything? Oh, and iunno about you guys, but I loved the biscuit cooking no jutsu! It's rare to see mooks pulling out anything big, and the clay breaking down was unjustified (since the beast couldn't move a muscle). Also, the number of summons was overkill - who's gonna kill all of those?

I actually liked this episode.

Gave the Torture Guy some screen time.

And lol'd hard when Iron Maiden Jutsi Doll came.

Well it looks like Pein is a walking corpse so he probably uses some of original users techniques... and since he has the most powerful eyes, who knows. Maybe he can break all the rules and do whatever he wants.

We don't really know much about Rinnegan.

Usually a ninja needs a contract to summon an animal partner, but in Pain's case he doesn't need to since he basically takes absolute control over the beast and summon as many animals as he wants.

Danzou hiding underground and explaining his plan is no filler, it is important manga material that will have important role in the story later.

I liked the filler fights, it did show how top Konoha ninjas can make large summons and elemental attacks, in the manga it was not shown enough so the reader could think that Konoha ninjas didn't even try that hard or that they are completely useless. In this episode we see that the problem is not that Konoha ninja are weak or even useless, they sure have very strong jutsu, the problem is that Pain is godlike, whateve jutsu you use he will make a stronger one and simply overpower you. Jiraiya was on the same level as Pain because sage mode multiplied the power of his jutsu, for example his sage mode rasengan was much stronger than his normal one, normal jutsu simply do not have any effect on Pain.

I finally got to see some insane and awesome ANBU action...besides...i'd say all the techniques from ANBU and Ibiki were quite awesome.

Though the cat that Ibiki summoned really reminded me of the Samurai Pizza Cats for some reason.... but that's just me.

summon jutsu ON ibiki...shudnt that have ripped him in half...am i missing something...was it genjutsu-ish? woah...

damn a bit of a kyubi moment there....i was hoping hed talk a bit to the frog..

No... just like when using summoning on the floor the ground doesnt break or whatever. The summoning appeared from his belly.... not from the inside. Altough for a moment i thought it would.

Seemed more like Ibiki was trying to take advantage of the girl pain than torturing.
