Serenade, nah. It's revealed about maybe a quarter of the way through the game, and then the "Luke is a spoiled brat" scenario can make way for "Luke really really wants a hug."

First episode, does not disappoint

They kept true to the game with the exception of
Natalia coming in so early but was pretty ok with me. In fact, i think it was
a lot better than in the game.

The VA was pretty spot on as far as I can tell since i only heard the jap VA in the game on
some of the skits that jap player uploaded onto youtube.

Speed wise, i think it's ok considering how long the game was, they have to keep things moving along or we wont get a proper ending without cutting out a good deal of backstory for all the characters.

Saw the raw. Was very impressed with the animation. Looks like the story is going in a good pace, so by next week we are being introduced to the Cheagles and Ion. Was amazed at monster fight scene. From close to the end, it seems that they may have one side quest

to do. I like the dynamic that was shown between Luke and Guy, and how some of the background was covered (ex. the promise and the sword).

I just watched the chinese subtitle, really good. I played the undub version of the game and the voice actor are spot on, just like their game counter part. Luke seems a bit better in the anime than the game.

The quality is pretty impressive. Everything about this episode screams quality you'd expect in a first episode. I hope this lasts.

The attention to detail isn't just limited to the visuals either. If you played the game, you'd also probably notice some subtleties in the way certain characters act.

At the risk of revealing a few game spoilers, I would just like to say that I was a bit surprised...

Spoiler for Luke's personality:

On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised on how much harder Tear kicks butt in the anime. Well, she's not the usual please-save-me RPG spellcasting heroine, but holy Lorelei, my love for this character just went deeper thanks to this episode.

All in all, a very promising start.

Next episode: Jade, Anise, Ion and cheagles. Can't wait.

It's crazy how well she fights in melee XD, so unlike how i usually did in the game with her... tuck in a safe corner blasting away with Fonic Art.

I loved the episode. (from what little speaking I could understand) and I can't wait for the subs and for future episodes.

Mr. Voice in Head must be, with almost no doubt, that red-haired guy from the OP... Part of my soul, and stuff... Saw this in another anime (name kept secret). I wonder if this was supposed to be some amazing plot twist... Anyways, coming into Abyss with no knowledge... OP/ED get a double-thumbs up!! Quite wonderful. This episode was Tales-like, but I guess it can't be helped there. Between all of the terminology and rather fast developments, I found it to be quite interesting. Looking forward to the next episode. Voice-wise, Luke's voice was younger than I expected, but got used to it quickly. Character-wise, not much impression so far. Basic protagonist (liveliness is good), friend who's actions/words might seem "gay" (as previous posters described it), some strange siren girl (great disturbance, ne), and others that I have no description for. Animation is pretty (rather, very) good, but... at various times, the art/drawing/what you want to call it gets... kind of "hilarious", in a bad way. Then Luke suddenly got mad and say that he never view Guy as just a servant.
