i got a question. apart from being from the future, mostly likely using a device as oppose to powers, mikuru-chan IS a normal human right? i know about the mikuru beam from accidently reading a spoiler, but how come she was able to see that yuki was an alien or data entity whatever right away?

The impression I get is that the faction players already knew the assigned field agents and when she saw that Yuki was in "direct play" she figured that must be what she should do as well.

Another explanation is that she had no idea what was going on until she walked into the room and Reality Shifted to fit the needs of the Haruhi

Itsuki did the same thing ... he glanced around and gave his "as expected" when he saw all the faction players were there.

All your answers will be answered in just novel 2.

Just finished volume 3, and still haven't got a clue why he's called John Smith. (I read the HK version I believe)

About volume 3, I wonder why KyotoAni decided to skip Bamboo leaf rhapsody out of the entire book? They animated all of the stories in volume 3 except it, which was one very very important chapter, since it talked about...

Spoiler:
I found that Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody is more of a trigger of what's to come rather than what happened. That's to say that while it would have been nice if KyoAni animated that chapter, it would have felt very out of place by adding an extra element to the plot that will never be resolved by the last episode.

Rest assured that Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody will be included whenever KyoAni decides to do another season. Like you siad, it's just too important to be left out.

And John Smith is just an Alias.
Spoiler for John Smith:

Bamboo leaf is skipped because it will be shown in season 2

On John Smith:
Spoiler:
Actually, John Smith comes from the John Smith/Pocahontas legend. It is, or at least was, a commonly used alias for, among other things, married men signing into hotels or motels with famale companions who were not their wives.

The irony was, the real Pocahontas marrries a different guy, and moved to England.

The Disney Movie wasn't even close to reality.

IIRC, that's what happened in Disney's Pocanhontas II. She ended up with John Rofle, just like their real life counterparts.

The Kadokawa Taiwanese version said in bracket (rumored as the first English to set foot on N. America).
