Also, while Imaishi (and let's not forget Yoshinari You), Gainax still has plenty of talented animators on staff (who will now get the chance to shine a lot more).

Umm, Uemura Yasushi (director of Dantalian) also seemed to leave Gainax.

Studios loose talents all the time, and what happens. New ones come in to take their place.
People chill out will you? As far as manglobe, their animation is HEAD OVER HEELS well above most work put out. It's just that their shows themselves suck. |

Gainax confirmed! (For what it's worth)
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-5289.html Looks like the original leak months ago was correct, apart from the part about Imaishi directing. |

Oh, looks like theres a light novel version coming, wonder if Nisio will write it himself...
Director is Shouji Saeki, who directed This Ugly Yet Beautiful World and He Is My Master among other Gainax works. The only work I've seen from this guy was the 3rd episode of FLCL... Not the best Gainax director...but I'm glad they aren't using that guy from Dantalian no Shoka.

Anime Medaka looks pretty close to the manga style, which is good. As for Gainax-not-quite-Gainax-anymore being the studio... well, as long as they do a decent job it'll be fine. All that matters is Kumagawa anyway (even if he does or does not appear).

I honestly wouldn't mind the anime ending at the first arc. I know the second is really popular, but it's where the writing starts to slide down, IMO. This is especially true for Medaka herself, but that kind of problem happens also in other works with a similar main character.

What "writing" that slide down anyway? The real Medaka box's writing style begun after that, with all the metaphor. Better say it as change of pace.
