So... original + upgrades? Screw it, I'll wait for that. If it never comes to the US, oh well. Not like it's THAT hard to find copies of newer FF games.

Not enough details. As far as I know, it seems the DL version will update the original DL game if you have it? And that is why it is so much cheaper?

And "For the sequel" meaning there will be a sequel?

Or them trying to be cute and parody "For the Horde".

Hope US version is based on this one, as I like playing games in the hardest mode (not to mention multiple save slots). Which is kinda weird TBH, as FF games usually never come with the choice of difficulty setting.

Good news everybody!

It’s official—the version of Bravely Default that the west is getting is indeed based on Bravely Default: For the Sequel, the enhanced version of the game headed to Japan this fall. The official Bravely Default Twitter feed tweeted this morning, “The overseas edition is based on ‘for the sequel’.”

Yes, the sequel is in progress. This updated version can be treated as a means for the development team to get more funds to work on the new game.

The updated version implanted a few gameplay element they'll use in the sequel, they also added more plot into ch.7 & 8.

The "For the sequel" thing wouldn't seem so bad if the JP official website didn't have that creepy poem making excuses for the price (3000 yen for update).
Something about how it is too awesome to be considered a "complete version" and all of that crap.

Well don't mind the 3000 yen update since it includes dual audio and the ability the change the language settings. Saves me the money from buying an american copy.

This game is out on 6 December here in Europe.

There's a very nice collector's edition, too, but it's expensive. It's sold out in several places already. At €99, it's a bit too steep for me.

I would've got the collector's edition, but for one, 3ds is region locked (glad my friend warned me about that since it changed from previous handhelds). And for two, Game already REALLY screwed me over one time, and considering that was really the only place I can preorder with a decent international shipping fee, I didn't want to give them any business.

Which is sad really, since I frakking love the Agnes figure.

Play-asia sometimes has inflated prices. Amiami doesn't accept debit cards.
So I usually just end up buying the DL version.

Yay for NA also gets collector's edition. Nay for NA not getting the Agnes figure, which was THE reason to get it in the first place.

I remember when the producer? or someone in the staff said that "This isn't FF"
Who would have known there was another meaning to it...

When it comes down to it, we would be buying a €100 collector's edition for a €12 statue. :/ Damn you, Square-Enix.

Got the game, somehow a nice thing to play, help between player is heavily advised so here is my code : 2723-9105-8718.

The sole bad point is the graphism, I wasn't expecting something great, but they are really average.

So how dependent is the game on the microtransactions? Are they necessary to beat it, or can you safely pretend they don't exist?

I know someone who says that the game cannot possibly be good if it has microtransactions in it, so...

The only microtransaction is this:

Do you want 3 SP (equivalent to 3 unrestricted moves against the AI) without having to let your 3DS 3x8 hours in sleep mode with the card in the slot, or not?
If "Yes", you can then buy a drink that'll give you those 3 SPs.
If "No I can wait", then you don't need to spend a dime.

So it's hardly necessary at all, you can easily get a SP while you're sleeping for example. And even then, SPs are not at all required to finish the game or beat any of the bosses.
