Seriously, compared to the previous batches, this one sounds really lackluster. The only one interesting me is Aki no Kanade, but i'm expecting no Death Billiards/Harmonie this time. |

Ongaku Shoujo was ... well ... for me it was not very impressive or even ... anything, although I kinda liked the animation quality. The characters were uninteresting, the story was bland and poorly paced.

Happy ComeCome was actually the one that looked most interesting to me.

While I found Haru to be incredibly annoying (if I was Eri, I'd have requested a dorm change) from another viewpoint it was a bit like we were watching snippets of a longer show. Given the way things are, I could see that being expanded. Let's just say when I re-read the beginning of this thread I did think "ah. That's what it reminded me of". The general look was OK, but it did seem like a bunch of snippets rather than a cohesive story.
Wonder what the other three shows will be like? Seems every year there's been the one stand out show (for me those would be Oji-san no lamp, Wasurenagumo, and Death Billiards), one or two reasonable ones, and one that's not that great. Hopefully this will be the latter and we've not seen the best they've got to offer yet. |

Okay.
Aki no Kanade was way, waaaaay better than Ongaku Shoujo. Good job JC Staff. Good story, nice visuals, and I really enjoyed the taiko drumming. Excellent and solid OVA! If you have the chance and inclination you might enjoy it.

I saw 3 of the 4 Mirai stuff so far. Not sure which I like the best although I have to admit that Aki no Kanade has the best animation quality so far. Was really hoping they can make it into a TV series in the future (hey, there was Death Parade) as it had a lot of potential with the characters, themes, setting, etc.

Have just seen Aki no Kanade. Oh yes, this is the kind of thing I like. I said a few comments ago that I thought each year's Anime Mirai shows had the one stand-out show and the rest. I suspect this is going to be the one that stands out the most for me.
It was just well thought out and charming. It really put out this sense of community spirit as well. Quote:
Mind you, a series spinoff showing Aki's life as a professional drum player would be pretty cool. |

Just watched Aki no Kanade.
That was brilliant. F***king brilliant. That felt like I was watching Only Yesterday fused with traditional noitamina (which btw JC Staff use to do) fused with top tier PA Works shows. Hit me right in the spot of how I like my dramas (not using the term slice of life because it aint a genre). Bravo JC Staff. This is the best thing you have made in a very long time. I thought you didn't have this touch anymore, but looks like I'm wrong. This is kind of stuff I watch anime for because I can't get it from any other medium. A certain brand of coming of age dramas and in this case a dash romance and music (taiko) on the side. Looks like I have an early strong contender for Movie/OVA of the year for 2015 AS Awards. Also pretty much an instant amongst all-time favourite OVAs. Now to hope that this becomes a TV series Last edited by Pocari_Sweat; 2015-04-07 at 08:37. |

That was very good, but boy - if I didn't know it wasn't I would have bet the farm it was a P.A. Works production. They did do in-between animation but none of the major staff seem to have PAW connections.

In particular, the festival parts seemed like it was ripped straight out of True Tears or Hanasaku Iroha. Also the tone. It had sentimental and mono-no-aware in spades. |
