You mean Comiket 79, right?
I'd love to go but I can't afford the trip. Oh well, at least I got to experience C77 and C78 (hint, the winter one is less of a physical ordeal if you're planning your first visit). IMO it's worth it for the atmosphere alone - think of it as the otaku equivalent of the Hajj.

I hate to be a doomsayer, but there's a very real chance this could be the last Comiket in Tokyo, and the last of this magnitude period. I would go if I had the chance. I had the chance to get to TAF in 2009 and I'm more glad than ever now that I did.

TAF is very much in doubt, as the top 10 publishers have already said they won't attend. I haven't heard any word about Comiket, but I would be surprised in the summer one (the big one) isn't held somewhere else in Japan.

Either it goes on at big site in the summer or it doesn't happen at all, I think. The earliest it could move out of Tokyo would be winter next year, I think.

At this point, many are saying that this coming Comiket WILL be the last one as we know it, if not forever.
"Hatred" is now no longer adequate enough a word for how I feel about a certain rape-novelist turned geriatric politician.

According to one blog post I read, the law might not impact the doujinshi scene as much as we've feared: Quote:

Well, we can always hope that Ishihara trips, falls and impales himself on his own walking-cane because he was too busy masturbating to one of his rape novels to keep his eyes on the road. That way, he won't be alive to change the laws to ban Comiket, the bastard.

I was there helping out the Tezuka moet mosou booth in the business booth section, and got to see the line pour in at 10 AM _from the inside_.
Pretty interesting experience seeing the most insane otaku of them all running/pushing each other over. I liked being able to waltz past everyone waiting for hours in the queues and get right in, though Leaving was another story...

Anyone planning to attend C83 next month? I will be going with a friend, mainly for doujinshi.
The catalog will be out on the 12th (according to amazon), which leaves only two weeks to prepare... I have heard really wild stories about endless queues for the popular circles |
